Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is argued that, normaly adults tend to change their ideas and daily basis behaviral activities with they are becoming senior age. Some narrow sighted people oppose to this, I firmly admire with this notion for several reasons and this essay will discuss them in detail with a summary.
To begin with, many older adults change to think about more religious development rather than their young age. This is because senior people are finding the peace of life and soul when they are getting older. Furthermore numerous retired older communities ofently going to the religious places such as temples, church and kovils as a result the can absorb many better learning of the religious. For instance, a recent study done by Colombo university students illustrated 60+ elders mostly go to the temples instead of young people go to the Dhamma school in Sundays. That is why I believe numbers of adults changing their thinking patterns with the time.
Secondly, many older society usually do take care of their grand children in their older age. Many parents left their childrens at home or school, although grand parents spend time with them at home and take youngsters for the tutions. For instance, One of newaspapers article in Sri Lanka revealed, retired senior peoples spent their goverment elder allowance for their grand kids apart from their usage. Moreover, adults are changing the diet habit with the older age is vital fact of their life habits. These reasons, I think with the people becoming older they change their day to day habits.
In conclusion, I agree with the elderly individual changing their thinking mindset and habits with the time such as move to religious side and also look about their grand sons and daughters.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction (“I firmly admire with this notion”) and conclusion, and both opinions and habits are addressed. The examples about older people attending religious places and grandparents caring for grandchildren are relevant, with the Colombo University study and newspaper report adding some support. This meets the task well overall. However, the development is uneven: the religious example is explained more fully, while the point about diet is only briefly mentioned and not illustrated. The discussion also focuses mainly on older people’s behaviour rather than explaining more directly how ageing causes changes in both habits and opinions. Develop each main point with a clearer explanation and a specific example to make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. “To begin with,” “Secondly,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument, and the ideas generally follow a sensible order. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “These reasons, I think…” does not clearly show how the diet point relates to the preceding discussion, and the shift from religious beliefs to grandparenting and then diet makes the second body paragraph feel crowded. Some references, such as “the can absorb,” are also difficult to follow. Give each paragraph a more focused central idea, and use linking expressions that explain the relationship between points rather than simply announcing them.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “religious development,” “retired,” “allowance,” and “thinking patterns.” However, the range is limited by repeated general words such as “older,” “change,” and “people,” while several inaccurate word choices or collocations make meaning less clear. Examples include “daily basis behaviral activities,” “narrow sighted people,” and “admire with this notion”; these do not express the intended ideas naturally. Spelling errors such as “normaly,” “ofently,” and “newaspapers” also affect the impression of control. Build a bank of accurate topic phrases and check spelling, word forms, and collocations. More precise expressions for ageing, changing beliefs, and family responsibilities would make your argument clearer and more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause (“This is because…”) and a contrast introduced by “although.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction sometimes make the reader work to understand the meaning. For example, “many older communities often going” lacks a finite verb, while “the can absorb” has an unclear subject and incorrect verb construction. In “adults are changing the diet habit with the older age is vital fact,” the clauses are not joined grammatically. Practise building accurate sentences with one clear main clause, then add subordinate clauses. Check subject–verb agreement, articles, and verb forms before using longer structures.
