Student answer (Band 6.0)
Although some people believe that it is easy for them to change their habits and their opinions as they grow older, I believe that after a certain age, people get Addicted to their habits and find it difficult to change it.
To begin with, some people believe that it is very common for them to change their habits and opinions when they get older because they get mature. This is because when a person gets mature, they understand the importance of their behavior and behave accordingly. Furthermore, people tend to change their personal priorities to their family priorities because they understand the importance of their family. For example, a person who used to spend more time with their friends, might spend most of their time with their families when they get married. As a result, they migh live more peacefully with their families with lesser conflicts.
On the other hand, others believe that once a person lives with the same behavior for a certain age, due to their addiction it becomes hard for them to change their behavior. Furthermore, some people might feel irritated while changing their habits and sometimes seek rehabilitation centres. For example, when a person used to eat unhealthy food such as chips, might struggle to eat healthy food such as salad. As a result, they might feel irritated and tend to join a gym or a rehabilitaion centre to persue their healthy lifestyle.
To conclude, it might be easy for some people to change their habits and opinions when they get older, I believe it becomes difficult for the people to change their childhood habits later in their age. Due to their addiction, they always struggle to change their behavior.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: although you acknowledge that people may change as they mature, you ultimately argue that established habits become difficult to alter with age. You address both habits and opinions, and the examples about family priorities and unhealthy eating make the discussion relevant. However, the support is uneven: the first example explains a change in priorities, while the second focuses on food habits, and opinions receive little specific development. The claim that people may need rehabilitation centres is also not clearly justified by the example. To strengthen the response, explain more directly why opinions or long-standing habits resist change and develop each example so it clearly supports your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs and a conclusion. Paragraphs generally have a central focus, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand” and “To conclude” help readers follow the argument. Some connections, however, feel mechanical or unclear. The first body paragraph presents the opposing view, but the conclusion does not fully reconcile that discussion with your own position. In the second paragraph, “As a result” links eating unhealthy food to joining a gym or rehabilitation centre without explaining the steps between them. Use linking phrases more selectively and make the cause-and-effect relationships explicit; clearer references to the ideas in each paragraph would also improve flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to discuss maturity, priorities and lifestyle, including phrases such as “personal priorities,” “unhealthy food” and “healthy lifestyle.” The meaning is generally clear, but the range is somewhat repetitive, particularly with repeated uses of “change,” “habits” and “people.” Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or imprecise: “get Addicted to their habits” is not a natural expression, and “persue their healthy lifestyle” does not fit the intended meaning. Spelling errors such as “rehabilitaion” and “migh” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise range for discussing routines and beliefs, and check spelling and collocations carefully so your vocabulary communicates ideas naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses beginning “because” and “when,” and most sentences remain understandable. Some grammatical errors persist, but they rarely prevent the reader from following your meaning. For example, “find it difficult to change it” has an unclear pronoun reference, while “a person who used to spend more time with their friends, might spend” has an unnecessary comma and an awkward subject–pronoun pattern. There are also missing spaces after full stops, as in “mature. This,” and inconsistent capitalisation in “Addicted.” Practise checking sentence boundaries, pronoun agreement and punctuation, while retaining the complex structures you already attempt.
