Student answer (Band 5.5)

People offen experience signifcant changes in their habits and opinions as they grow older. i strongly agree that this is a common occurance because individual gain more experience from their valuable life. They have more knowledge about everything happening in this World.

One of the major reason whh people changes their habits as they get older is that their priorities and responsibilities involved. For example when the individual is young they have different perseptive of living, they may spend of the time socializing people, staying up late, hanging with friends or eating unhealthy food. However when they start working or raising a family, they often develop a organised lifestyle. They may began early in the morning, doing exercise daily, eating healthy food , and managing his time more effectively.

These changes are usually necassary to maintan a healthy lifestyle.

Another reason why people opinion changes with their personal experience. When individual were young they may hold strong views and perspective according to their experiences. for instant, some once believed that success depands on their academic results but might later realised that practical skills, determination, emotional intelligence are equally important.

This realised that how people change their opinions by the passage of time.

Nevertheless. not everyone changes their opinion or habbits significant with age. Some people maintain the same principles throughout their lives because of their upbringings, personality. however even these individual may change their opinion when the circumtances change.

In conclusion, I strongly agree that people to change both their habits and their opinions as they grow older.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You clearly state your position—“I strongly agree”—and address both habits and opinions. The examples about changing routines after starting work or raising a family, and reconsidering whether success depends only on academic results, are relevant. However, the explanations remain general and are not fully developed: explain more specifically how experience leads to these changes, or add a concrete personal or observed example. Your paragraph beginning “Nevertheless” also introduces an exception without showing how it qualifies your overall view. The response is 246 words, so it falls four words short of the 250-word minimum; this limits the opportunity to develop your ideas fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs on habits and opinions, a qualification, and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the main points. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and several links are awkward or incomplete. For example, “This realised that how people change their opinions” does not clearly connect the example to the claim, while “Nevertheless” is followed by a sentence fragment-like transition and inconsistent punctuation. Some linking phrases, such as “Another reason,” are useful, but the relationships between claims and examples need to be made more explicit. Use clear topic sentences and explain each example before moving to the next point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “priorities,” “responsibilities,” “practical skills,” and “emotional intelligence.” These choices help communicate the main ideas. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make the writing less clear, such as “occurance,” “perseptive,” “necassary,” and “circumtances.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, including “their valuable life” and “spend of the time socializing people.” Aim to learn accurate collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise expressions for changing routines and revising beliefs would help you explain your ideas with greater clarity and flexibility.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “because,” “when,” and “although”-type contrasts. However, errors occur frequently, and some sentences are difficult to interpret. Examples include “One of the major reason … is that their priorities and responsibilities involved,” where the subject and verb pattern are incomplete, and “when individual were young,” which has an agreement error and lacks an article. Verb forms are also inconsistent in “they may began” and “might later realised.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation need attention, particularly in “Nevertheless. not everyone…” Practise building accurate subject–verb patterns and checking tense and agreement before adding more complex clauses.
