Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, people often change their life styles and ways of living as they getting older. While some people living same mindsets and habits throughtout life, I strongly belive that both have change with age because of responsibilities.

To begin with, one of the main reason is that people change their habits and opinions because they have more responsible as they grow older. This is particulary important because adults have often manage their families, works, and health. For example, young people spend more time with playing video games, friends, and watching movies. However, when they become older, they may prefer regular excercise, healthy food, and spend quality time with their families.

Another important reason is that people's opinions change because of their life experiences. For young people earning higher salary rest of their life is the goal. However, after working several years, they might be realized that spending time with families, happiness, and health are also equally important. At the same time for small children is really important knows the world, study and learing new things on day to day basis. As people grow older have always looking for families are living and eat together.

In conclusion, I firmly belive that it is very common for all people to change their habits and their opinions as they get older because they realized what is really important for their life. I also believe that work responsibilties and experiences are also help them make change in their habits and perspectivies of their life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You clearly agree that habits and opinions commonly change with age, and you give two relevant reasons: increased responsibilities and life experience. The examples about young people’s leisure habits and adults valuing family, health, and happiness help address the question. However, some points are unclear or insufficiently explained, particularly the discussion of children needing to “know the world” and the sentence about families living and eating together. The response is also 9 words below the 250-word minimum, so it does not fully meet the task requirement. To strengthen the response, develop each example more clearly and explain how it demonstrates a change in both habits and opinions.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Phrases such as “To begin with,” “Another important reason,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, progression within the second body paragraph is difficult to follow: the shift from salary goals to children’s learning and then to families eating together is not clearly connected. Some linking is also mechanical, and the conclusion repeats the main position without adding a clear synthesis. Organise each paragraph around one main idea, use pronouns and transitions to show how examples relate, and remove or clarify points that interrupt the line of reasoning.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “responsibilities,” “life experiences,” “healthy food,” and “quality time.” These choices make the general meaning understandable. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems reduce precision, such as “life styles,” “more responsible,” “higher salary rest of their life,” and “perspectivies.” Some phrases appear to be direct or incomplete combinations, which makes parts of the argument difficult to interpret. Build a wider set of accurate expressions for discussing changing priorities and routines, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise collocations would help you express your ideas without relying on repeated general terms such as “important” and “change.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast introduced by “While” and clauses beginning with “because” and “when.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors occur frequently enough to make several sentences difficult to understand. Examples include “as they getting older,” “one of the main reason,” “adults have often manage,” and “As people grow older have always looking.” These show problems with verb forms, agreement, and sentence construction. Practise building complete clauses with a clear subject and correctly formed verb, and check singular/plural agreement. For example, ensure that a sentence beginning “As people grow older” continues with a finite verb and a clear subject.
