Student answer (Band 6.0)

It can be seen usually that individuals change their behaviour and thoughts as they grow older.

I completely agree with this statement due to changing era and long-term experience.

To begin with, transformation in living styles is responsible for this change in humans opinions and way of thinking. This is mainly because as the years passes, modification can be seen in every field, including technology, social media and entertainment, which changes the people's choices and thinking ways. For example, in 90s people loved to watch Television serials with enthusiasm, but now this generation enjoys webseries, which made a clear difference between the past and the present preferences. Therefore, it also becomes necessary to change overtime.

Furthermore, wealth of experience with growing age makes a big difference in changing habits. This is because people who have been working for several years experience various circumstances at their workplace, which teaches them many lessons in their life. As a result, they may learn patience and discipline while working with their colleagues. More importantly, people face many challenges, like financial struggles, family conflicts, and while surviving in society, that can be positive and negative; hence, these real life experience definitely affects their nature. For instance, many young people who were aggressive and loud in their early age may become quiet and silent when they become elderly.

In conclusion, I firmly agree with this essay that human nature and thinking process changes overtime due to changing periods and learning experience.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction (“I completely agree”) and remains consistent in the conclusion. You give two relevant reasons: social and technological change can alter preferences, while accumulated work and life experience can affect behaviour. The examples about television and web series, and young people becoming quieter with age, help illustrate these points. However, some ideas are asserted rather than fully explained: the entertainment example shows changing preferences, but its link to changing opinions or habits could be made clearer. The discussion of workplace experience and personal challenges also needs a more specific example or explanation of how these experiences lead to change. The response is five words below the required minimum, so add a little relevant development as well as meeting the length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow, and the examples are placed alongside the points they support. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some features of stronger progression. However, linking is occasionally mechanical, particularly the repeated “This is because” and “As a result.” The sentence beginning “More importantly” is difficult to follow because the list of challenges is interrupted by “and while surviving in society,” and the reference to “that” is unclear. Use more varied links and make the relationship between each example and its main point explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range to discuss change and experience, including “transformation,” “preferences,” “circumstances,” “financial struggles,” and “discipline.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and the reader can understand your examples. You also attempt more specific vocabulary, but some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “changing era,” “thinking ways,” “wealth of experience,” and “real life experience.” “Overtime” is also used where the intended meaning is “over time.” These slips do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and naturalness. Aim to learn vocabulary in common combinations—for example, “changing social conditions” or “accumulated experience”—and check whether a phrase fits the meaning you intend.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “which,” and “while.” Most of the argument remains understandable, and the longer sentences allow you to explain causes and results. Some grammatical errors remain, however. In “as the years passes,” the verb should agree with the plural subject (“pass”); “changes the people's choices” would be clearer as “changes people’s choices”; and “real life experience definitely affects” needs a plural form if referring to experiences (“experiences affect”). The sentence containing “and while surviving in society” is also structurally incomplete or awkwardly joined. Review subject–verb agreement, singular and plural forms, and sentence boundaries, while continuing to practise complex clauses.
