Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is very comman for people to change their habits and opinion as they get older. I very much agree with this statment.

To commence with , as people get older and older their daily routien changes their habits and opinions start to change. Due, to so many circumstance they start to become wiser and wiser. Once they are all energentic and full michievous the next they are more clam and full of responsibilities. For example if we see in a family , parents were once kid and full of hopes and dreams and now they have responsibilities and duties to take care of their family member.

Secondly, as people grow older they start to become wise as they have seen different kind of views, different kind of people , had gained more experience in life by facing multiple and different kind of situation which life throws at them. Even moving from one place to another , getting a new job , getting into new routien or managing a household make a person change their habits and they tend to change their opinion as well. For example, young people may think that changing job at initial stage is benifical but later on they stop and focus more on job stability, carrer growth and work life balance.

In conclusion, people tend to change their habits and opinion as they grow older because of different kind of factor like getting married, getting more responsibility at work or simply just looking after their family member can all contribute in changing behaviour and opinion.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: “I very much agree,” and the conclusion returns to the view that ageing and life changes affect habits and opinions. You give relevant reasons, including increased responsibility, life experience, work changes and family commitments, with examples about parents and young workers. This addresses the task well. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: for instance, the link between becoming “wiser” and changing opinions could be illustrated with a specific opinion that changes and why. The examples are relevant but general, so adding a more developed personal or realistic example would make the support more convincing and extend the response further.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signposted by “To commence with” and “Secondly,” and a conclusion. The ideas generally progress from changes in daily life to experience and employment, and examples help readers follow the points. This gives the essay a coherent arrangement. Some connections are less smooth, however: the first body paragraph moves quickly from energy and mischief to family responsibilities, while the second combines life experience, moving, employment and household management without clearly grouping these ideas. Linking phrases are also somewhat formulaic, and the conclusion largely repeats earlier points. Use clearer internal transitions and develop one main idea at a time to make progression more flexible and cohesive.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “responsibilities,” “experience,” “job stability,” “career growth” and “work-life balance,” which helps express the topic. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “the different kind of situation which life throws at them.” However, spelling errors and imprecise or repetitive word choices are noticeable, including “comman,” “statment,” “routien,” “benifical” and repeated use of “different kind of.” Some expressions are also unnatural, such as “full of responsibilities” and “change their habits and opinion.” These do not prevent the main message from being understood, but they limit precision. Check spelling carefully and use more natural collocations and varied wording.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional example beginning “if we see in a family” and a longer sentence describing how people gain experience. The overall meaning is usually clear, and the essay has a recognisable sentence structure. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with articles, agreement, plurals and sentence boundaries. For example, “their habits and opinion” needs consistent plural agreement, and “different kind of views” requires a plural form or a different construction. The opening of the first body paragraph also has awkward clause structure, while “Due, to so many circumstance” is punctuated and formed incorrectly. Aim for accurate, complete sentences and check agreement and article use, especially in longer sentences.
