Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent years, a various amount of people are now changing both their lifestyles and thoughts as they grow older. In this essay I will discuss if I am agree with this or not.
In the one hand, I disagree first because people nowadays are very opinionated and diverse because of using too much technology such as cellphones, laptops and computers not because they are older. Younger people usually tend to get their knowledge to their parents and teachers but as time pass by when they become teenager they already have their gadgets with them they used everyday. through this a lot of teens are already expose to what is trend in the society. For example, when they are watching random videos on Tiktok they always want to copy the new dance craze. Because of this it changes their habits and opinions about things as they follow the trend in social media.
In the other hand, I believe it is also about their age that their habits and opinions changes because once we go out of the real world we will understand and learn a lot of things. We can be more knowledgeable for a lot of issues around us. For instance, while you are watching televisiomn when you are a child ypou used to watch cartoons and learning progrmas but as you age you change what you are wtaching like news and dramas.
To conclude, in spite the fact that age is really a big contributor to what people do and tell, but for me the external factors like gadgets, televisions, people around you and environment are give a huge factor why people really change their habits and opinions.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both sides of the question and give a position: you first disagree that age is the main cause, then acknowledge that people’s habits and opinions can change as they grow older. The examples about teenagers copying TikTok dances and adults watching news rather than cartoons are relevant. However, the position remains somewhat unclear because the conclusion says external factors are the main cause, while the body also argues that age contributes, without clearly explaining how these causes relate. Several points are asserted rather than developed—for example, the effect of technology on opinions is mentioned but not illustrated. State your degree of agreement directly and develop each reason with a clearer explanation or specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic essay structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting contrasting views, and a conclusion. Paragraphs generally have identifiable central ideas, and examples are placed alongside the points they support. However, progression is weakened by unclear or inaccurate linking phrases such as “In the one hand” and “In the other hand,” and the first body paragraph’s opening claim does not connect smoothly to its later discussion of social-media trends. The conclusion also introduces a list of external influences without clearly synthesising the two body paragraphs. Use standard transitions such as “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and make each paragraph’s opening sentence state its main point clearly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “habits,” “opinions,” “technology,” “trend,” and “environment.” The examples also show an attempt to use specific terms such as “dance craze” and “social media.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning less clear. For instance, “a various amount of people” is not a natural expression, and “get their knowledge to their parents” does not convey the intended idea clearly. There are also spelling errors such as “televisiomn” and “wtaching.” Build a more precise vocabulary for discussing influences and change, and proofread spelling and word combinations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including clauses beginning with “because,” “when,” and “while.” This gives the response some structural variety, but complex sentences are often faulty and errors occur frequently enough to make parts difficult to follow. Examples include “I am agree,” “as time pass by,” and “their habits and opinions changes,” where verb forms or agreement are incorrect. Sentence boundaries and capitalisation are also inconsistent, as in “everyday. through this,” while the final sentence has a faulty construction: “the external factors … are give a huge factor.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and check each sentence for a complete, correctly connected structure.
