Student answer (Band 5.5)

There is no doubt getting older brings a lots of changes in life , it can be postively or negatively. It is commonly said that when individuals get older they face mew challanges either its related to their behavior or routines . I accept this notion because of following reasons.

First of all, as most of the older people feel uncomfertable to do heavy duties or excercise , so they cannot stick with their daily activities , for example, some people have been seen that they never missed their daily excercises but when they get older they have to change beacuse of their health do not allow to continue it. Hence , getting aged affect their habbits.

Apart of this, it is also seen in many families grey-haired people are ignored by their children , due to that , parents have to adjust with their kids. To explain it, when parents are young they always take care of kids and make small or bigger decisions for them, as children get older they give more prefrence their own ideas and opinions rather than old parents . That's why old parents have to sacrifice their opinions because of kids' happiness .

In a nutshell, health issues and changing prefernces by their kids forces to aged folks to discontinue their regular

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You state a clear position—“I accept this notion”—and give two relevant reasons: health can change people’s routines, and family relationships may affect older people’s opinions. However, the response addresses the task only partially because both points are briefly explained and the second is not fully connected to the claim that people’s opinions change as they age. The example about children preferring their own ideas needs clearer explanation of how this changes the parents’ opinions, rather than simply requiring them to compromise. The conclusion is also incomplete, ending with “discontinue their regular”. In addition, the response is 32 words below the required minimum, limiting the space available to develop and support your ideas. Extend each reason with a specific example and a complete conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall arrangement: an introduction, two body paragraphs introduced by “First of all” and “Apart of this”, and a concluding paragraph beginning “In a nutshell”. This helps the reader follow the two main reasons. However, progression within the paragraphs is sometimes unclear, particularly where the discussion moves from children having their own opinions to parents sacrificing theirs. Some linking is mechanical, with repeated cause-and-effect phrases such as “Hence” and “That’s why”, and the final sentence is unfinished, so the conclusion does not bring the response to a clear close. Use transitions that show the precise relationship between ideas, and make sure each paragraph develops one point in a logical sequence before moving on.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “daily activities”, “health issues”, “routines”, “opinions” and “preferences”, which makes your main ideas understandable. There are also attempts at more specific expressions such as “grey-haired people” and “heavy duties”. However, spelling errors and inaccurate or unnatural word choices are noticeable throughout, for example “postively”, “challanges”, “uncomfertable”, “prefrence” and “habbits”. Some phrases are also awkward, such as “getting aged” and “heavy duties”, which can make the reader pause. Aim to learn accurate spelling alongside natural collocations, and choose direct expressions such as “older adults” and “strenuous activities”. Proofreading would help you use your existing vocabulary more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause with “because” and a time clause beginning “when individuals get older”. This shows an effort to connect ideas rather than relying only on short statements. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in agreement, articles, verb forms and sentence construction sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “a lots of changes” has incorrect number agreement, while “their health do not allow to continue it” has problems with the subject–verb form and clause structure. The opening sentence also joins two independent ideas with a comma. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly formed subordinate clause, then check agreement and punctuation carefully.
