Student answer (Band 6.0)

People change their habits and opinions when they get older as they face different circumstances and events while growing up. I do agree on this and in this essay, I will discuss to you about why I content to my choice.

Individuals have different habits and opinions in their own lives and it changes throughout time. It can maybe because of various aspects such as preferences, environment, responsibilities, or the people around us. One of the example I want to give is from my personal experience. When I was a kid, I had a habit of being a socialized person; I wanted to be with my friends all the time and meet new people. I played and discovered new things with them because I did had a lot of time back then. But growing up gives us more life responsibilities and we need to be responsible enough to work for it, and this made me become less socially active since I need to utilize my energy to more important things.

When it comes to opinions, I believe that it changes overtime because of what we believe in. For instance, the opinions that we have for politicians before and after we voted for them. In my home country, there are a lot of controversy topics when it comes to government issues that includes corrupt politicians. We may be the one who put them on their positions becasue of their flowery words and unconditional commitment they showed us during the campign, but is not delivering good after they were appointed. This changes whole view of that person and would urge us to change the way the we see and make us choose better decision in the future.

Although some will disagree on this and think that every person just stick to their preferences. I still think that change outweighs the fixed choices of individuals as we encounter events that can change our point of views.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the opening—“I do agree”—and the response addresses both habits and opinions with relevant personal and social examples. The account of becoming less socially active as work and responsibilities increase gives a plausible explanation of changing habits. The political example also supports your view that experience can alter opinions. However, the discussion of opinions is less fully developed: it focuses on disappointment with elected politicians, without explaining more broadly how age or accumulated experience changes people’s views. The conclusion restates your position but adds little synthesis. To strengthen the response, explain the causes and consequences of each change more precisely and develop the second example beyond the campaign and election.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs on habits and opinions, and a concluding paragraph that returns to your position. The examples are generally placed where readers expect them, and transitions such as “When it comes to opinions” help signal the shift in focus. Some connections are less smooth or precise, however. “I will discuss to you about why I content to my choice” does not clearly introduce the argument, while “This changes whole view of that person” leaves the reference and the link to the previous sentence somewhat unclear. The final paragraph begins “Although some will disagree” but does not explain that opposing view. Use clearer links between cause and result, and make each paragraph’s progression explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary to discuss personal development and public life, including “responsibilities,” “socially active,” “corrupt politicians,” and “commitment.” These choices make the main ideas understandable, and you attempt some topic-specific language. At times, however, word choice and collocation are inaccurate or imprecise: “a socialized person” is not a natural way to describe someone who enjoys socialising, and “controversy topics” and “flowery words” do not fit the intended meanings well. There are also spelling errors such as “becasue” and “campign.” Aim for more natural collocations and check spelling carefully; more precise vocabulary would help distinguish changing habits from changing opinions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including clauses with “when,” “because,” and “although,” and the main message remains clear. Some sentences are controlled, such as “When I was a kid, I had a habit…” However, there are some errors in sentence structure, verb forms, agreement, and articles. For example, “I do agree on this” uses an incorrect preposition, “I did had” combines incompatible verb forms, and “there are a lot of controversy topics … that includes” has agreement and plural problems. The final sentence, “Although some will disagree …,” is a dependent clause left without a complete main clause. Review these patterns and proofread sentence boundaries while continuing to use varied structures.
