Student answer (Band 5.0)
It comes with a lot of unexpected changes when one grows older and likely common for people to change both their habits and their opinions as they get older. In some groups of people, they find it possible to change their habits as well as opinions when they grow old. Some people also maintains their habits and opinions as they grow old .This different is caused by person`s religion and culture.
In some communities, culture is maintained and it is punishable when one violates them. The ammendment of these rules that guides their culture is protected and governed by special group of elderly people in that specific community.A group is then formed that comprises of people that were almost born at the same time. This special group is called age group. They get trained on the importence of these vallues.
In some communities, they are not strict and there is no rules formed to guide them. This makes them forget and change their ways of life and habits.People mainly change their habits and opinins when they distance themselves from home or go to towns where they meet different people with different cultures. It is common that when one is away from home and no one can watch their actions strictly, they get involved in other activities that can later result in them changing habits.
In my conclusion,I would like to suport the motion that its common for people to change both their habits and their opinions as they grow older simply because memory gains different experiences when one is old as compared to young age.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You take a position in favour of the statement, especially in the conclusion, and discuss how community rules and moving away from home may affect habits and opinions. However, the response addresses the question only partially: the opening says that some people change while others maintain their ways, but the essay does not clearly explain how opinions change or give a specific example to support its claims. The discussion of age groups and cultural rules is also difficult to connect to the question. The response is below the required 250 words, which limits the opportunity to develop your reasons and examples. To strengthen the answer, state your degree of agreement clearly at the start, explain changes in both habits and opinions, and add a relevant, concrete example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation: the response has an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the body paragraphs broadly separate communities with strict cultural rules from those with fewer restrictions. This gives the reader a basic route through the discussion. However, the overall progression is not always clear. The first paragraph repeats the idea that people change as they grow older, while the link between the description of age groups and the question is not made explicit. Connectors such as “In some communities” help signal a shift, but relationships between claims are sometimes unclear, and the conclusion introduces “memory gains different experiences” without developing that point earlier. Use clearer topic sentences and link each paragraph directly to your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary, including “habits,” “opinions,” “culture,” “communities” and “experiences,” so the main topic is generally recognisable. There are also attempts at more specific expressions such as “distance themselves from home” and “ways of life.” However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts of the response harder to understand, for example “ammendment,” “importence,” “vallues” and “opinins.” Some phrases are also imprecise or unnatural, such as “memory gains different experiences” and “support the motion.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and choosing collocations that express your meaning directly; for instance, explain that people “gain experience” rather than saying memory gains it.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “the rules that guides their culture” and a conditional structure in “when one is away from home.” These attempts show some range, but complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make reading less smooth. For example, “Some people also maintains” has subject–verb disagreement, while “there is no rules” has an agreement error. The opening sentence is also awkwardly constructed, and punctuation spacing is inconsistent, with several sentences running directly into the next. Practise building accurate sentences with one main idea at a time, checking subject–verb agreement, articles and plural forms, and separating sentences with full stops.
