Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people believe that with time, when we are growing, our personality changes. While others think that opinion is wrong and we save our habitual patterns and core values, despite some new details.
From my perspective, any human is developing every day, so with time a person can become unrecognisable.
Firstly, in during lifetime our surrounding is constantly changing.
We make friendships, relationships with different people, which make us to rebuild some of current views on communication with people. We learn something from friends, share their interests and hobbies, and we explore who we are. This impact is mutual.
We have different people around us in different periods, therefore we also turn out in a somebody new.
Secondly, we have common and usual phases in our life. They are discovered by the scientists and psychologists.
For example, when we go to a university, we learn how to be more independent, to take more responsibilities on ourself. Also, at that time everything is changing in comparison with a school. We have more deadlines, more expactations from a family and society about our career. Then, when we go to the work we are supposed to be more accurate and friendly to build connections and to network. If you have children, you life is totally different then without them, now you do not think only about yourself. And you are supposed to be more careful and kind.
So, we have different expactations and goals.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that the same person is able to be someone else, unique and different from the old version of themself.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you agree that people change as they age, and the conclusion reinforces this view. The response addresses both habits and opinions indirectly through changing views, responsibilities, and behaviour, and the examples about university, work, and having children are relevant. This supports the task well overall. However, the discussion focuses more on personality and life circumstances than on specific changes in habits or opinions. The point that friendships reshape views is relevant but would benefit from a concrete example, and the life-stage examples are listed more than explained. To strengthen the response, directly show how a particular habit or opinion changes and explain why that change occurs as a person gets older.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two supporting paragraphs, and a conclusion. The sequence from changing social surroundings to major life stages is generally logical, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes uneven: the second body paragraph moves quickly from university to work and parenthood, while “So, we have different expectations and goals” repeats the preceding point rather than developing it. Some links are mechanical, and the opening contrast beginning “While others think” is not smoothly connected to the first sentence. Group related examples more clearly and use referencing and transitions that show how each example supports your central claim.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of topic-related vocabulary, including “core values,” “independent,” “responsibilities,” “deadlines,” and “career.” These choices help communicate ideas about personal development and changing roles. However, several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “rebuild some of current views,” “turn out in a somebody new,” and “more expectations from a family.” The spelling errors “expactations” and “ourself” also reduce accuracy. Some wording is repetitive, particularly the repeated references to being “different” or “changing.” Aim for more precise collocations and vary the language used to describe development; for example, explain that people revise their views or adopt new routines rather than saying they become “someone else.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses with “when,” “which,” and “therefore,” and the main ideas remain understandable. Some sentences are controlled, such as “We learn something from friends, share their interests and hobbies, and we explore who we are.” However, there are several grammatical errors in sentence construction and agreement. “While others think that opinion is wrong” is a fragment, and “which make us to rebuild” has an incorrect verb pattern and agreement. Other examples include “in during lifetime,” “you life,” and “different then without them.” Review clause formation, subject–verb agreement, possessives, and verb patterns. More accurate control of these structures would make your argument easier to read while preserving the range you are attempting.
