Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some individuals argue that when people get older, they change their opinions and habits. I disagree with this statement.

Very first point is person cannot change their good or bad habit with time. Individuls are always addicted with their habits. For example, one peson starts smoking at age of 20. when one turns into 69, he cannot quit smoking. Same ways if anyone have good habit like to help others, he cannot easily ferget good habits.

Person cannot changed their opinion with age because it is just a number. Individuals are changing their thinking not only they are getting older but also it affects surrounding factors like nature of friend, family and so on. For instant, My grandfather is 79 years old. His nature was strict when he was 25 years old and i finds same nature at 79 years as well.

The times of India revels that person's habits and opinions are different then age. It is vey hard to change nature and opinions with time.

On other hands, peoples become dependent when they are getting older. Hence, they should Change their behaviour. If they are not ready to change their statement, family members are not liking them and starts to disguss. For example, one study reveals that 65% of parents are living in old care house because of they are not changing their habits and opinions with new generations. Therefore, there are chance of family conflict.

To conclude, person should change their nature like habits and opinions when they are getting older.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You give a clear initial position—“I disagree”—and include relevant examples, such as your grandfather’s consistent strictness. However, the response does not sustain that position: the final paragraph argues that older people “should change their behaviour,” and the conclusion says they should change their habits and opinions. This contradiction makes your answer to the question unclear. Several claims are also asserted rather than explained, including that a smoker cannot quit and that older people in care homes are there because they do not change. To strengthen the response, decide whether you agree or disagree, keep that view consistent, and explain how each example supports it. The discussion currently addresses the topic only partially because the reasons are limited and under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

Your response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, separate points, examples, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “For example,” “On other hands,” and “To conclude” help show the intended stages. However, the overall progression is difficult to follow because the main position changes: you first disagree, then argue that people should change, and conclude that they should. Some links between ideas are also unclear; for instance, the claim about dependence in old age does not clearly explain why habits or opinions change. The paragraph about the newspaper is brief and does not develop the argument. Organise each body paragraph around one reason that supports the same position, and use linking phrases to show the relationship between the reason and its example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the general subject, including “habits,” “opinions,” “dependent,” and “family conflict.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “surrounding factors” and “new generations.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the meaning less clear, including “ferget,” “revels,” and “disguss.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “nature of friend” and “old care house.” Aim to learn common collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise wording would help distinguish between a person’s habits, personality, opinions, and behaviour, rather than using these ideas as if they were interchangeable.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both short statements and longer sentences with reasons, using forms such as “because” and “if.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main ideas can generally be understood. However, the range remains limited, and errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. Examples include “Person cannot changed,” “if anyone have,” and “I finds same nature.” Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “when one turns” and “i.” Practise building accurate sentences with a subject and correctly formed verb, then check agreement and tense. For example, “A person cannot change” and “If someone has a good habit” would make these points clearer.
