Student answer (Band 5.5)

I am partically agree and disagree with this point. Some people think and act differently within passing time due to environment cahnge and new knowedge, howerver some folks stay with their old school traditions and thinking.

If i talk about the individuals who cahnge within the time. There are lots of factors that effect them. Firstly environment change if they move from rular area to urban, from one contry to another country. It will effect their way of living ,thinking, eating ,thoughts. Their perspective about living life change within time. They start adapting the other human habits and their lifestyle to adjust in that environment. For example if indian parents go canada to live with their kids ,they adopt candian culture, habits, the way to do things and think.

On the another side, where elders are stay with their old thoughts and daily routines. In this case many grayhairs belives in their old school. They believe that it is the only way they can stay connected with their culture and god. It can also be hard for them in this age to adapt new life patterns and think differently. It gives them fear of disconnting and not rooted with their old patterens. Apart from this as a human it is hard for evrybody to try something new specially when they are aged.

In conclusion, I believe its hard for some seniors to think and behave differently. Some people still believe in change even at their last age stage but some think different and find this is the only a way to stay rooted.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the question and give a relevant example: older people may adapt after moving to another country, while others retain familiar beliefs and routines. Your conclusion also restates this contrast. However, your position is not fully consistent: “partically agree and disagree” does not clearly explain how strongly you agree, and the conclusion focuses mainly on seniors rather than people changing habits and opinions as they age generally. The reasons about adapting to a new environment and fearing disconnection from one’s culture are relevant, but they need clearer explanation and more specific support. State your overall view directly, then develop each reason with a concrete example showing how age leads to a change—or to resistance to change.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two contrasting body sections and a conclusion. The contrast is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “On the another side” and “In conclusion” help indicate the direction of the discussion. However, some links are mechanical or unclear, and the first body paragraph moves quickly from relocation to changes in lifestyle without explaining the connection in detail. The sentence beginning “If i talk about…” is an awkward transition, while “Apart from this” introduces an idea that is not clearly connected to the preceding point. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main claim, and connect examples explicitly to that claim. Clearer referencing would also help readers follow who “they” refers to.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “environment,” “perspective,” “adapting,” “culture,” and “daily routines.” These choices allow you to discuss both change and continuity. However, the range is uneven, and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, such as “within passing time,” “old school traditions,” “grayhairs,” and “stay rooted.” Spelling errors—including “partically,” “cahnge,” “knowedge” and “disconnting”—also reduce the accuracy and polish of the writing. Aim for more natural expressions and check spelling carefully. For example, you could describe people as “older adults” rather than “grayhairs,” and explain that they “maintain familiar customs” or “feel disconnected from their cultural roots.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional example (“if Indian parents go…”) and a contrast between people who adapt and those who retain their routines. Meaning is generally recoverable, but some grammatical errors make parts of the response difficult to read. Examples include “There are lots of factors that effect them,” “where elders are stay,” and “It gives them fear,” which show problems with verb forms and sentence construction. Articles, agreement and punctuation also need attention, as in “the only a way” and the frequent missing spaces after commas and full stops. Practise building accurate clauses before adding complexity, and proofread each sentence for subject–verb agreement, articles and complete verb phrases.
