Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is very common for people to change both their habits and their opinions as they get older. I have experienced it firsthand when I was growing up till 10 years I used to feel my parents are the smartest people in the world they are superheros, they know everything. When I have a question from school or friends I would discuss it with my parents specially my mother as I am very close to her.
Gradually things changed I became 11 and 12, I started to feel like my parents are troublesome they don't like my opinion they always impose their opinion. I used to think they are orthodox, set in their own ways, very strict with me and they don't let me have fun.Wondered would I be better off going to college?
When I went to college I started missing them, specially my mother's smiling face and started to feel they new several things about life from their experience, I should learn from them. Things changed now I started asking for their opinion going forward as I started to feel my mother is very practical and she takes life in a very lively manner. I started calling her very often to get her opinion even though my boyfriend had already give me some solution but now at this stage of live I relied on my mother's point of view. Staying in college away from her taught me importance of them. Now I wouldn't listen to her in a defensive way, I started to listen to her with a grain of salt to understand her.
In my thirtys when I bought my house I took opinion from both my parents and in-laws as there happiness mattered to me along with my family. After having a kid I started loving my mother even more and my respect elevated. I experienced what a selfless role being a mother was, I would call her very often, listen to her ranting as I listen to my daughter. Along with that I was obsessed with social media and I loved to celebrate my birthday, I would celebrate it for a month.
Now when I am in my fourty I really don't care about social media and I believe in speding quality time with family and friends. I have started paying more attention to my health, I excercise and eat healthy. Now for me life is about peace and calm rather than chasing others or try to be in parties. Inner peace is what matters the most. I go to parks and sit in peace for few hours for my birthday. As I keep growing calm, peace and time to myself is what matters the most for me.
I have changed both in habits and opinions as I grow older for a better peacful life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
Your position is clear: you agree that people change as they age, and you support this with a personal account of changing views about your parents and changing habits around birthdays, social media, health and leisure. The examples are relevant and generally extended, particularly the contrast between seeing your parents as “superheros” in childhood and seeking their advice later. This gives the response a clear, personal focus. To strengthen the development further, explain more explicitly why these changes occur with age—for example, how greater independence or becoming a parent reshaped your priorities. The final claim that you changed “for a better peaceful life” could also be linked more directly to the examples that precede it.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a discernible chronological progression, moving from childhood through college and parenthood to your current priorities. This sequence helps the reader follow the changes, and transitions such as “Gradually,” “When I went to college,” and “After having a kid” support the timeline. However, several stages are crowded into long paragraphs, and some connections between ideas are abrupt—for instance, the shift from your boyfriend’s advice to relying on your mother’s point of view. The repeated use of “Now” and “I started” can also make the progression feel mechanical. Use clearer paragraph breaks for each life stage and vary transitions, while making references such as “them” in “taught me importance of them” more precise.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary to describe changing attitudes and routines, including “orthodox,” “practical,” “selfless,” “defensive,” and “inner peace.” These choices help convey personal feelings, and the contrast between “chasing others” and seeking calm is understandable. There are also some inaccurate or awkward choices that limit precision, such as “listen to her ranting,” “my respect elevated,” and “a better peacful life.” Spelling errors, including “superheros,” “speding,” “excercise,” and “fourty,” are noticeable, though the meaning remains clear. To improve, check spelling carefully and choose more natural collocations, especially when describing respect, advice and personal priorities.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentences, including time clauses and contrasts, and the overall meaning is usually clear. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence boundaries occur across the response. For example, “my boyfriend had already give me” needs a past participle, while “they new several things” appears to use the wrong verb form. The opening sentence also joins several ideas without clear punctuation, and “I started to feel my parents are troublesome” shifts tense awkwardly. Some sentences are long and difficult to control. Review past-tense consistency in the life narrative, check subject–verb agreement and articles, and divide long sentences into clearer units.
