Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that habits and opinions changes with the age. While some people completely agree with this view, others have different thoughts. I strongly agree with this statement because the older people gain experiences with their ages and have best suggestions because they have learnt a lot from their life. They mostly preferred sedentary lifestyles according to their less body demands and needs.
Firstly, people usually develop better habits as they become mature with the age. When they are young, they are full in their energy to spend most of their time eating unhealthy food, enjoying outdoor activities, using mobile phones. However, as they grow older, they begin to understand the importance of healthy food and a balanced lifestyle. For instance, a young person may not care about regular body fitness, exercise and eating habits as a result they may experiences health problems like hypertension and diabetes. In order to overcome these, they start walking, doing exercises and developed eating habits by taking more nutritious food. Therefore, age and life experience encourage people to improve their habits.
Secondly, aged people may often change their opinions because of an increase in their knowledge with the experience. Young people may have strong options regarding different issues without fully understanding them. In turns they meet and face various challenges and start learning things from different perspectives. For example, an individual who thinks that earning a lot of money in their life is the most significant purpose of this world, later realize that spending time with family a good health and peace of mind are better options to be developed. This shows that maturity can influence people's belief and values.
In conclusion, I agree that people change their opinions and habits with age. This is mainly because of their better understanding and gaining experience and knowledge, may face new responsibilities. Nevertheless, some basic values may remain unchanged throughout their lives such as honesty, kindness and respect for others.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction through to the conclusion: you agree that people’s habits and opinions change as they age. Both parts of the question are addressed, with relevant explanations and examples: healthier routines illustrate changes in habits, while the shift from prioritising money to valuing family and peace of mind illustrates changing opinions. The final qualification that some values remain stable adds useful nuance. However, the discussion of habits is more fully explained than the discussion of opinions, and some claims are broad—for example, that older people “mostly preferred sedentary lifestyles” is not clearly connected to your main argument. Develop the opinion example further and make each supporting point precise to strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs organised around habits and opinions, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “For instance” help readers follow the argument, and the examples generally appear in the relevant paragraphs. This gives the essay coherent progression. Some connections are less smooth or clear, however. The opening reference to sedentary lifestyles is not developed, and “In turns they meet and face various challenges” does not clearly show how the preceding idea leads to the next. The conclusion’s final sentence about enduring values is relevant but could be linked more explicitly to the position. Use cohesive devices less mechanically and clarify references and transitions between claims.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “balanced lifestyle,” “nutritious food,” “perspectives,” “responsibilities,” and “peace of mind.” These choices show an attempt to express ideas beyond basic vocabulary. However, inaccurate word choice and collocation are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning less natural: “better suggestions,” “full in their energy,” “strong options,” and “a good health” do not express the intended meanings idiomatically. There is also repetition of general terms such as “experience” and “change.” Aim for more precise, natural combinations, such as “gain experience,” “hold strong opinions,” and “maintain good health,” and check that each word fits the meaning you intend.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “as,” and “although”-type contrast, and most ideas remain understandable. Some sentence patterns are effective, such as “as they grow older, they begin to understand…” However, errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction recur. For example, “habits and opinions changes” should use a plural verb, while “they may experiences” needs a base-form verb after “may.” In “later realize,” the subject and verb do not agree, and the final sentence beginning “This is mainly because…” is structurally incomplete. Review subject–verb agreement and modal verb patterns, and revise sentences to ensure each has a complete, clearly connected clause.
