Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is argued that individuals change their views and habits as they grow up.

I completely agree with the stance because people get various life experiences with the time and learn new things everyday.

To begin with, world is changing every minute. People get to know new people everyday in their life. Everyone teaches us something, it could be good habit or a bad habit. Some people admire good human beings and then they try to be better. therefore, many of them attracts to wrong society and they start acting like them. For example, a lot of people stuck in using drugs and alchohol but there is also a lot of book readers, social workers, priests and many more. In my honest opinion, i saw majority of the people becoming wiser as they get older.

In addition, we all get many real life experiences in our entire life. we fail and we succeceed. These incidents are always store in our subconcious mind. it completely changes how we think about any particular situation. Our thinking process changes with the time. For example, we like to buy expensive clothing or phones when we are young but as we get older, our prorities and view changes and those possessions were not attract us anymore. The way of thinking about getting something precious or cheaper changes as life goes on.

In conclusion, I completely agree with the view that people change their habits and views as they get older since they meet new people everyday adn get different kind of experience from each one.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction and conclusion: you completely agree that people’s habits and views change as they age. You give relevant reasons—meeting different people and learning from life experiences—and illustrate these with examples about substance use, reading and changing priorities around purchases. This addresses the task well. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: for instance, the contrast between people drawn to “wrong society” and positive role models could be linked more explicitly to how habits change over time. The example about possessions supports changing priorities more clearly than changing opinions. Developing that distinction and explaining one example in greater depth would make the response more complete and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates your position. “To begin with” and “In addition” help signal the progression. Within paragraphs, however, some connections are abrupt or unclear. The sentence beginning “therefore” does not clearly follow from the preceding point, and the examples in the first body paragraph move quickly from role models to drugs, readers and social workers. References such as “them” and “those possessions” could be made more precise. Use linking expressions to show cause and contrast, and organise each paragraph around one main idea followed by explanation and a closely connected example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including topic-relevant expressions such as “life experiences,” “subconscious mind,” “priorities” and “thinking process.” There are also attempts to express abstract ideas about how people’s views develop. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “attracts to wrong society,” “incidents are always store,” and “those possessions were not attract us.” Spelling errors such as “alchohol,” “succeceed” and “subconcious” also reduce accuracy. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall argument, but they make parts less clear and fluent. Focus on accurate collocations and checking spelling, rather than reaching for more complex vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses with “because,” “when” and “as,” and the overall meaning is usually understandable. However, errors occur frequently across the response, and some complex attempts are faulty. For example, “Everyone teaches us something, it could be…” joins two independent clauses incorrectly, while “many of them attracts” has a subject–verb agreement error. Other examples include “we fail and we succeceed” and “those possessions were not attract us,” where verb forms and sentence construction need correction. Articles and sentence-initial capitalisation also need attention. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a correctly formed subordinate clause, then proofread agreement and verb forms.
