Student answer (Band 6.0)

I absolutely agree that it is common for people to change their habits and their views as they age.Simply because our bodies do not have the same vitality and freshness anymore. Older people then to avoid any straineous activities that can easily drain their energy. Furthermore, their once lively disposition in life had a 180 degree change. Their priority changes. The once important activities like mountaineering, weekened parties, and long travel, no longer interest them. Their hundreds of friends in Facebook, seems just a numbercompared to the number of people to whom they really want to spend time with. Old people learn that quality time is more important than quantity. Morever, they would rather choose to sleep or spend time with their family rather than stay late with their friends.

However, some of the young people show their immaturity when it comes to their habits and opinions. Young blood shows no restrains to how they abuse their bodies as they do not feel any restraints and limitations. They drink and be marry without seizing the day. For tomorrow will always come for them. They live with no worries or reservations. To them, life is about being happy and living in the present. Until the day that their bodies catch up to them. Their bodies no longer have the vitality it once had. They view in life, changes as they face reality.

In conclusion, old people value wisdom and time and their habits and opinion change as years pass by. They had fun in their younger years. Now, all they want is to spend quality time fulfilling their their bucket list.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the opening: you agree that people’s habits and views commonly change with age, and the conclusion returns to this view. You give relevant reasons, including reduced physical energy, changing priorities, and a preference for family time over late nights with friends. The contrast with younger people also helps explain how experience can alter attitudes. This meets the task well, and some examples—such as mountaineering and weekend parties—make the discussion concrete. However, the explanation of how opinions change is less developed than the discussion of habits, and claims about “old people” and “young people” are broad. To strengthen the response further, explain a specific change in belief and support it with a more particular example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. “Furthermore,” “However,” and “In conclusion” signal the main stages, and the contrast between older and younger people gives the discussion an overall direction. This makes the response coherent overall. Some links, however, feel mechanical or do not show the relationship between ideas precisely. For example, “However” introduces a point about young people that partly supports your argument rather than directly opposing it. Several short statements—“Their priority changes” and “They live with no worries or reservations”—could be connected to the explanation around them. Use clearer topic sentences and link each example explicitly to your central claim; also check references such as “their” so readers can readily identify who is meant.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary to discuss ageing and changing priorities, including “vitality,” “disposition,” “reservations,” and “quality time.” Concrete examples such as “mountaineering” and “bucket list” also help convey your meaning. There are attempts at more expressive phrasing, but some choices or combinations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “straineous activities,” “weekened parties,” “numbercompared,” and “drink and be marry.” “Their once lively disposition in life had a 180 degree change” is understandable but not idiomatic. These slips do not prevent the reader from following your main points, but they limit precision. Aim for accurate collocations and proofread spelling and spacing; for instance, use “strenuous activities,” “weekend parties,” and “a dramatic change in outlook.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex forms, including the relative clause in “activities … that can easily drain their energy” and the contrast introduced by “However.” The main message remains understandable, but some sentence structures and grammatical patterns are not controlled consistently. “Simply because our bodies…” is a fragment, while “Older people then to avoid…” lacks a correctly formed verb. In “Their hundreds of friends in Facebook, seems just a number,” the subject and verb do not agree, and the sentence structure is unclear. There are also tense and agreement problems in “their once lively disposition … had a 180 degree change” and “their bodies … had.” Build complete sentences, check subject–verb agreement, and keep verb tense consistent. Combining some short statements into accurate complex sentences would improve control.
