Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often believed that people's habits and opinions change as they grow older. I completely agree with the given statement because they learn lot of things throughout their life which changes their way of living as well as way of thinking. I will explain the points in the upcoming paragraphs.
Firstly, people's habits often change as they grow older because when they are young they love to spend time with their family members as well as friends. Also, love to play video games in order to enjoy their life. However, as they grow older they stay more focused towards their life as well as their career, health and family responsibilities. For example, a young person always prefer eating fast food and staying up late, whereas on the other hand an older person always follow a healthy diet plan in order to stay healthy.
Secondly, people' opinions can also change as they gain lot of experiences throughout their life. When individuals are young they have a limited knowledge about certain situations to make a decision on their own. As they grow older, they meet different people and gain lot of valuable experiences which makes them more confident about every situation. For instance, someone
who thinks that earning money is more important in life, but later on realise that family is also important in life.
To put it in a nutshell, I strongly agree that people's habits and opinions changes as they grow older. The reason behind this is that they gain lot of life experiences which make them more confident and more responsible.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction—“I completely agree”—and remains consistent in the conclusion. You address both habits and opinions, giving relevant explanations and examples: changing priorities from leisure to career and family, and revising the belief that money matters more than family. This meets the task well overall. However, some points are asserted rather than fully developed. For example, the contrast between young and older people’s diets is broad, and the opinion example would be stronger if you explained what experience leads someone to reconsider their priorities. Develop each example with a specific cause or consequence to make your support more convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs on habits and opinions, and a concluding summary. Sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “To put it in a nutshell” make the progression easy to follow. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, with repeated patterns such as “as they grow older” and “as well as.” Some links between ideas are also awkward: “However” introduces a contrast, but the sentence that follows would benefit from a clearer connection to the earlier examples. Improve flow by varying transitions and using pronouns or concise references where the meaning is clear. Ensure each paragraph develops one main point in a connected sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including relevant terms such as “career,” “responsibilities,” “valuable experiences,” and “confident.” The language is generally understandable, but several phrases are repetitive or imprecise, which limits flexibility and naturalness. For instance, “gain lot of things” and “stay more focused towards their life” do not express the ideas idiomatically, while “healthy” is repeated in the diet example. Choose more precise collocations and vary repeated wording. Also check word forms and possessives, as in “people' opinions.” A broader range of natural expressions for changing priorities and revising beliefs would make the argument more fluent and exact.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “when,” and “whereas,” and the main meaning is usually clear. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with subject–verb agreement and sentence construction. For example, “a young person always prefer” should use “prefers,” and “people's habits and opinions changes” should use “change.” The fragment “Also, love to play video games” lacks a subject, and “someone who thinks … but later on realise” does not form a complete, consistently structured example. There are also punctuation and spacing slips where sentences run together. Review agreement and make sure each sentence has a complete clause; this will improve accuracy while preserving your range.
