Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is widely believed that people change their habits and opinions as they get older. However, I firmly disagree to this view because I believe people get used to their habits over the years and it becomes difficult sometimes to change them.
On the one hand, some people believe that it is very convenient for them to change their views and routine according to the surrorundings and feasibility of things. Many people are habitual to their routine for years, however, they also believe that they are very flexible to change them in accordance with other people's actions to ensure common viewpoints and avoiding conflicts in a room. For example, as people grow older, they develop health issues and to address that it is sometimes necessary for them to change their habits and viewpoints like alter their eating habits, phyiscal exercise and overall routine for better health.
On the contrary, some people believe that they adapt certain habits since childhood and it tends to create an opinion which eventually becomes their overall personality over a period of time. Therefore, it is really hard for them to change it according to the surroundings. Additionally, as they get older, it becomes difficult for them to put in same level of efforts as they could probably when they were younger. For instance, my grandparents are not used to technology as they have never used mobiles in their whole life, it becomes challenging for them now to learn how to operate a mobile in today's world.
Overall, it is sometimes necessary for people to be flexible in their habits and opinions as the situation demands. However, I am of the view that as people get older, they find it very challenging to change their habits and opinions that were developed over the years as it requires to put and extra effort and coming out of comfort zone.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you disagree that people commonly change as they age, and the conclusion restates this view. You address both habits and opinions, using relevant examples such as health-related changes and your grandparents’ difficulty learning to use a mobile phone. However, the discussion is uneven: the first body paragraph describes reasons people may change, but the link between changing opinions and the example about health is not fully explained. The second paragraph more directly supports your position, yet the claim that childhood habits shape personality would benefit from a specific explanation or example. Develop each main point with clearer reasoning and connect examples explicitly to both parts of the question.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs and a conclusion. Phrases such as “On the one hand,” “On the contrary” and “Overall” help signal the stages of the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow: the first body paragraph moves from flexibility to avoiding conflict and then to health changes without clearly showing how these points connect. “On the contrary” also suggests a direct opposition, although the paragraph presents a different perspective rather than correcting the previous example. Some references, such as “them” in “change them,” are not fully clear. Use more precise links between claims and examples, and make each paragraph develop one central idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary to discuss habits, flexibility and ageing, including “adapt,” “surroundings,” “viewpoints” and “comfort zone.” These choices make the main argument understandable, and you attempt some less common expressions. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “habitual to their routine,” “common viewpoints,” and “put in same level of efforts.” There are also spelling errors, including “surrorundings” and “phyiscal,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for more natural combinations and check spelling carefully. For example, people can “be accustomed to a routine,” “reach a shared understanding,” and “make the same level of effort.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “as” and “since.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, and the contrast between your own view and the opposing perspective is generally clear. Some grammatical errors remain, however. In “I firmly disagree to this view,” the verb pattern is incorrect; write “disagree with this view.” The sentence “it becomes difficult sometimes to change them” has an unclear pronoun reference, while “as they get older, it becomes difficult for them to put in same level of efforts” needs an article and a more accurate grammatical construction. The final sentence also has faulty parallel structure in “requires to put and extra effort and coming out.” Review verb patterns, articles and parallel forms.
