Student answer (Band 5.5)

The entire process of aging in an indiviual, definitely, brings immense transitions. Some believe it is prevalent for people to become changed personalities with changes outcomes and decisions. I absolutely agree with this

During one's childhood, an individual is more likely to make immature, aggressive and impractical decisions. Factors such as emotions, likings and unlikings, sense of passion, less understanding of future outcomes, higher curiosity levels etc., contibutes immensely to an individual's choices and acts. For instance, a young person would gain a sense of satisfaction after fulfilling one's dreams and passions, ignoring the fact of outcomes being productive or not.

Contrarily, a grown up indiviual is more likely to make informed choices, relevantly from one's past experiences and outcomes. This transition definitely would incorporate altering their past habits and perspectives in terms of distinct factors. For instance, an older individual would prefer saving and investing money, rather than spending on unnecessary or one time needs and practices.

Concludingly, I believe the phase of aging allows people to realise the wrong doings and carries away their perspectives in terms of different things and choices.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

Your position is clear: “I absolutely agree,” and both paragraphs give relevant reasons, contrasting childhood decisions with adults’ choices. The examples about pursuing passions and saving money help illustrate how habits and opinions may change. However, the response addresses the task only partially because the ideas remain general and are not sufficiently explained; for example, you do not show how experience leads someone to revise a particular opinion, and the final paragraph simply restates the conclusion. The response is also 66 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop your reasons and examples. To strengthen the answer, explain each example in more detail and address both habits and opinions explicitly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present a childhood–adulthood contrast, and a concluding sentence returns to the main idea. Connectors such as “For instance” and “Contrarily” help signal examples and contrast, so the reader can follow the basic progression. To move further, make the links between claims more precise and avoid relying on formulaic transitions. For example, the shift from childhood passions to adult saving is understandable, but you could explain the connection between experience and changed priorities. The final sentence, beginning “Concludingly,” repeats the central point rather than drawing together the two examples. Clearer references and a more developed progression would improve cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “transitions,” “past experiences,” “informed choices,” and “perspectives.” These choices communicate the general idea, but several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, which makes parts of the response less clear. For instance, “become changed personalities with changes outcomes” is difficult to interpret, while “likings and unlikings” and “one time needs” are not natural collocations. There are also spelling errors such as “indivual” and “contibutes.” Aim for precise, natural phrases rather than formal-sounding wording that does not fit the meaning. Using familiar collocations accurately, then adding a few well-chosen alternatives, would make your vocabulary more effective.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple statements and some longer structures, including “During one’s childhood, an individual is more likely to…” and the sentence beginning “Factors such as…”. The main meaning is generally recoverable, but errors in sentence construction and agreement sometimes make the reader pause. In “Factors … contibutes,” the plural subject requires a plural verb; the opening sentence also places “definitely” awkwardly, and “I absolutely agree with this” is left without a full stop. The final sentence, “the phase of aging allows people to realise the wrong doings and carries away their perspectives,” has an unclear grammatical relationship between its clauses. Practise building accurate complex sentences and checking agreement, punctuation, and clause structure.
