Student answer (Band 5.0)

In recent time, as time passes people are alter their habits and opionis it becomes easier for them particularly when they are old. I partially agree with this statement.

On th one hand, there are several reasons why people change their habits and opinions. People think critically they have knowledge about their right and wrong because they passes from all times. For example, a mother who faced all problems she change their opinions abou people and change their habit. Moreover, when people reached at older stage they likes many things and they change their habits. As a result, elder people have experience about every situation.

On the other hand, some people not change thier habits and behavior because they obsessed with them. They do not like to any kind of change in them. For instance, a person who likes their all things never alter any habits.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You give a clear, though qualified, position in “I partially agree,” and you address both the possibility of change and the fact that some people remain attached to their habits. The examples of a mother learning from difficulties and a person who resists change are relevant to the topic. However, the response only minimally develops these ideas: it does not explain what specific experiences lead people to change their opinions or habits, and the second example is very general. The conclusion is also absent, so your final view is not reinforced. The response is 146 words, which is 104 words below the required minimum; this leaves too little space to develop reasons and examples. Explain your position more fully and support each main point with a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic, recognisable structure: an introduction followed by two contrasting body paragraphs. “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help signal the change in direction, and “For example” introduces an illustration. However, progression within the paragraphs is limited, and several ideas are placed next to one another without clearly showing how they connect. For instance, “they have knowledge about their right and wrong” and “they change their habits” need an explanation linking experience to change. The final paragraph also ends abruptly, with no concluding sentence to bring the argument together. To improve, organise each paragraph around one clear reason, explain the link between sentences, and add a brief conclusion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a small set of relevant words, including “habits,” “opinions,” “experience,” and “change,” and the contrast between people who adapt and those who resist is understandable. However, the vocabulary is limited and repetitive, especially the repeated use of “change” and “people.” Several spelling and word-choice errors make the message less clear, such as “opionis,” “thier,” and “obsessed with them”; the last phrase does not clearly express being attached to familiar habits. Some expressions are also unnatural, including “reached at older stage” and “faced all problems.” Build a wider range of precise phrases for life experience and resistance to change, and check spelling and collocations. This will help you express your ideas more clearly and avoid repetition.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and longer clauses, for example, “For example, a mother who faced all problems she change their opinions,” but the longer construction is not controlled. Errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence structure occur frequently: “people are alter” should use a suitable verb form, “they passes” does not agree with its subject, and “they likes” has the same agreement problem. The opening also joins ideas in a way that makes the sentence difficult to follow. Some short sentences, such as “They do not like to any kind of change in them,” are easier to understand, although the structure remains inaccurate. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check agreement and tense before adding subordinate clauses.
