Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is widely argued that with the growing age people tend to change their choices and behaviour. While I acknowledge that, it is not always true for everyone, I strongly agree that age certainly impacts the lifestlye choices.
The main justification for my stance lies in that the responsibilties increases with the age and which eventually impacts the lifestyle. A prominent illustration of this is, when a person is young, he can be careless and spend all his money on food and clothes. However, a married person has to take care of his family and plan his budget accordingly. Consequently, his choices depends on his family's betterment but not just for his own happiness. Furthermore, with growing older, emotional maturity develops and it certainly reflects in life decisions and preferences unless youth's decisions which sometimes are very impulsive.
Another key reason is the health awareness. For instance, youth ususally like eating outside and partying late night. However, mature inidividuals are generally cautious about their eating habits and sleep schedule. They often follow a healthy lifestyle to maintain a balance between their work and personal life. Nevertheless, at an old age, people like to spend simple life and wear simple clothes.
In conclusion, I firmly hold the view that age plays a vital role in someone's behaviour and choices. A sense of responsibility and maturity reflects in their choices and decision they make in their life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you agree that age affects people’s choices and behaviour, and you give relevant reasons involving responsibility, maturity and health awareness. The examples of a young person spending freely and a married person budgeting help explain the first reason. However, some points are asserted rather than fully developed. The claim that older people prefer simple lives and clothes is brief, and the discussion focuses more on lifestyle habits than on changes in opinions, which is also part of the prompt. The response is also 15 words below the required minimum. To strengthen the response, address both habits and opinions explicitly, and extend the less-developed points with a specific example or explanation.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present reasons, and a conclusion restates your position. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “However,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow, and the examples generally sit alongside the points they support. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some flexibility in linking ideas. At times, though, connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “unless youth’s decisions” does not clearly connect to the preceding point about emotional maturity, while “Nevertheless” introduces the final point about old age without a clear contrast. Use more precise transitions and make each paragraph’s central idea and supporting example connect explicitly.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “responsibilities,” “emotional maturity,” “preferences,” and “health awareness.” These choices help communicate your main ideas, and phrases such as “plan his budget accordingly” are relevant to the example. There are also attempts at more formal wording, although some combinations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “with the growing age,” “maintain a balance between their work and personal life,” and “spend simple life.” Spelling errors, including “lifestlye,” “responsibilties,” and “ususally,” also reduce accuracy. Broaden your control of natural collocations and proofread spelling; for example, use “as people grow older” and “live a simpler life.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in the introduction and clauses beginning with “when” and “however.” Most ideas remain understandable, and the errors do not generally prevent the reader from following your argument. Some grammatical inaccuracies are evident, however. In “the responsibilities increases,” the plural subject requires “increase”; “his choices depends” should be “his choices depend”; and “decision they make” needs a plural form or an article. The sentence beginning “A prominent illustration of this is, when…” also has faulty punctuation and clause structure. Aim to check subject–verb agreement, articles and plurals, and revise sentences that combine clauses awkwardly while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
