Student answer (Band 5.0)

well from my thoughts it is good to change the habits and the opinions as the people get older .i totally agree with this because when the people grow older the responsiblities of the person will also grows rapidly so the person should understand they things and think about the future how he/she will spend there entire life .for example when i was a child daily i used to go to the playground to play the cricket match after that slowly when i am getting older the school has completed and my college life was completed and my dad left the job and i was the only one to take care of my dad so i change my opinion to do something to earn how ever the days are passing my dad completely left the job and i was the only one to handle all the expenses of my home so i decided to do some extra hours of duty so i can earn more and more to pay the bills of hospital and the habit of going to the play ground totally stop because when ever i came from the office i was very tired and i only need sleep in my mind only one responsibilties was running if i wont go to work every thing will get disturb so it is so necessary that according to the age of the people they should change there opinions and habit that alll the people will undersatnd wand think that tey should get mature

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you agree that people should change as they grow older, and the example of taking on financial responsibility for your father supports this view. This personal account is relevant and gives the response a concrete reason for your opinion. However, the task is addressed only partially because most of the discussion focuses on your own circumstances and changing habits; the point about changing opinions is stated but not clearly illustrated. The explanation also becomes difficult to follow as the account moves from school and college to your father leaving work and your extra hours. Develop a second reason or explain more clearly how maturity changes a person’s opinions, then connect each example directly to your argument.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a recognisable line of thought: you state your agreement, give a personal example, and conclude that people need to adapt as they age. However, the response is presented as one long, largely unpunctuated sequence, so the reader has to work to identify where one idea ends and another begins. Connectors such as “after that,” “however,” and “so” are repeated or used to carry several steps at once, rather than showing the relationship between ideas precisely. Some references, including “they things” and “all the expenses of my home,” are unclear in context. Use separate paragraphs for your position, explanation and example, and divide the personal story into shorter sentences with clear links.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough everyday vocabulary to communicate the main situation, including “responsibilities,” “earn,” “expenses,” and “extra hours of duty.” These words help make the personal example relevant. However, the range is limited and several expressions are repetitive or imprecise, such as “more and more,” “something to earn,” and “one responsibilities was running.” Spelling errors, including “responsibilties,” “undersatnd,” and “mature,” also make the writing less clear and controlled. Aim for more precise phrases suited to the argument, such as “support my family financially” or “take on greater responsibilities,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to express cause, time and consequence, for example in “when the people grow older” and “because when ever i came from the office i was very tired.” These attempts show an effort to connect ideas, but the response relies heavily on long sentences, and complex structures are often faulty. Errors in agreement and verb forms appear in “the responsibilities … will also grows” and “the school has completed”; tense shifts also make the timeline difficult to follow. Missing sentence boundaries and inconsistent punctuation further obscure meaning. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then combine them accurately using clauses such as “As I grew older, I took on more responsibility.”
