Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you agree that people’s habits and opinions change as they age. You give relevant examples, including older people choosing quieter activities, paying more attention to health, and advising younger family members based on experience. These points show an attempt to address both habits and opinions. However, the discussion is only partly developed: several examples are listed without explaining how ageing causes the change, and the point about older people living separately and facing health problems is not clearly connected to your main argument. The conclusion also introduces the idea that seniors are a “backbone for community” without summarising your reasons. Explain fewer examples in greater depth and keep each one directly tied to the question.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has an opening, a main discussion and a concluding sentence, and the reader can generally identify the broad topic of each part. You also attempt linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “Moreover” and “In addition.” However, most of the discussion is placed in one long paragraph, and the ideas move rapidly from health and music to tours, reading, parties and advice, with little clear progression. Some links are mechanical or do not show the relationship between ideas; for example, “Otherwise” does not logically connect the preceding point about family gatherings to reading. References such as “they” and “it” are sometimes unclear. Use separate paragraphs for habits and opinions, and connect each example explicitly to the point it supports.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “health ailments,” “communities halls,” “experience” and “opportunities,” and you try to express a range of activities and views. However, the vocabulary is limited and several phrases are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “older people lead a lot of problems,” “peaceful surrounding,” “healthy balance diet” and “feel not only greenly environment.” There are also spelling errors such as “moderen,” “separtely” and “colusion.” Aim for precise, natural collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully. Repeating “in life” frequently also makes the writing less varied; replace it with specific references to ageing, daily routines or later life where appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentences and use structures such as “not only…but also,” as well as clauses beginning with “because” and “which.” However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty. For example, “I totally agree with that statement people change…” needs a linking structure, while “they has been beneficial” has incorrect subject–verb agreement. Other problems include “people get be change their opinions” and “they spend their time in communities halls,” where sentence construction and article or plural forms are not controlled. Punctuation also causes problems, as in “For Example.” followed by a new sentence fragment. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine related ideas with correctly formed clauses and consistent punctuation.
