Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You successfully cover all parts of the task by clearly explaining the problem with your office computer and stating the urgency of the situation regarding your upcoming client meeting. Your purpose in writing is immediately clear from the opening sentence. The ideas are extended and supported well, such as when you detail the specifications of the machine and the troubleshooting steps you have already taken, including trying a different data cable and restarting. To move to a higher level, you could ensure that the tone and purpose are fully sustained and that all contextual details are woven seamlessly into the narrative without feeling slightly disjointed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

Your letter demonstrates a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. You begin with an appropriate formal salutation and a clear statement of purpose, follow up with relevant details regarding the troubleshooting process, and conclude with a polite request for urgent assistance. You use cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'Therefore' to link your ideas, although there is a slight tendency to rely on basic connectors. To achieve a higher band, you would need to use cohesive devices even more flexibly and ensure that referencing and paragraph transitions are completely smooth and natural.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for a workplace communication task, such as 'Assistant Manager', 'specifications', and 'troubleshooting'. However, there are noticeable lexical inaccuracies and awkward word choices, such as writing 'inform you a problem' instead of 'inform you of a problem', and 'window 13' instead of 'Windows 13'. Additionally, phrases like 'connect the internet connection' show some repetition and unnatural collocation. To reach a higher level, you should incorporate less common lexical items with greater precision and pay closer attention to standard collocations and word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and conditional ideas. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and sentence structure that require the reader to occasionally pause. For instance, you write 'I am working XYZ company' instead of 'for XYZ company', and 'it showing an error' missing the auxiliary verb 'is'. Furthermore, sentences like 'for this I need good internet connection' lack proper subordination or punctuation. To improve your grammar score, you need to increase your control over verb forms, articles, and prepositions inside grammatical patterns to produce more error-free sentences.
