Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir,

I am writing you to express my consern about the rasining quantity of waste by the walkers in the countryside near my home.

Everyday, I go for the walking in the countryside park near my home. I really enjoy the morning walk because air is fresh during the morning. And walk is the best way for stay healthy.

It has been long time that i am seeing little rubbish on the side-walk of countryside park. As a responsible residence i try to keep the park clean by throwing the garbage in the dustbin. But now, the amount of litter are increasing day by day by the other walkers. As a result, people do not like to come in this park for walk which will put the affect on it's maintance.

To mitigate this problem i want to suggest some solutions. Firstly, authority should install the camera and put the annocment of fines of throwing garbge in the park. Moreover, Government should organise the public awerness campaigns to educate the people about the importance of protecting the environment.

Thank you for your time.

Your fatihful,

Raj

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three points in the task: you explain that you enjoy morning walks because the air is fresh and walking helps you stay healthy, describe litter in the park, and suggest cameras, fines and public-awareness campaigns. The purpose of writing to the newspaper is clear, and the suggestions are relevant. However, some points are less fully developed than others. The litter description is quite general—“little rubbish” and an increasing amount of litter—without examples of what you have actually seen. The consequences for the park and its maintenance are also not explained clearly. Add specific examples of rubbish and clarify how it affects the area to make the letter more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall arrangement: it introduces the concern, explains your walks and the litter problem, and then presents possible solutions. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these stages, and signposts such as “Firstly” and “Moreover” make the suggestions easy to identify. This gives the response a coherent progression. To make the organisation more polished, connect some ideas more smoothly rather than relying mainly on explicit transitions. For example, the move from your own efforts to the increase in litter could be linked more clearly, and the sentence about people avoiding the park and its maintenance is difficult to follow. Clearer referencing and a more precise link between cause and consequence would strengthen cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “litter,” “garbage,” “fines,” “public awareness campaigns” and “protecting the environment.” These choices communicate the main concern and proposed actions. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “consern,” “rasining,” “annocment” and “awerness,” and some phrases are not natural in this context, such as “throwing the garbage in the dustbin” and “put the affect on its maintenance.” These inaccuracies reduce precision and make parts of the letter less fluent to read. Build a reliable set of collocations for describing litter and proposing enforcement, and proofread spelling and word forms before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, including a result clause in “As a result, people do not like to come in this park for walk” and a purpose clause in “to educate the people.” The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in articles, agreement, verb forms and sentence construction. For example, “I go for the walking” needs a more natural article pattern, “the amount of litter are increasing” has subject–verb disagreement, and “It has been long time that i am seeing” uses an inaccurate tense structure. There is also a sentence fragment beginning “And walk is the best way.” Practise accurate clause construction and check agreement and tense while retaining your attempts at varied sentences.
