Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I would like to write this letter to bring your attention towards the litter around countryside. As it is increasing day by day, I want this issue to be publish in your newpaper to aware people.
Everyday I go to visit Elandro park in the evening time , which is near by house and prefer to walk there instead of using car. I feel disstressed, more relaxed ,more energetic and also I got some quality of time to spend with myself and to connect with nature.
Nowadays, the throwing of garbage has been rasied. Even near the enterance there is a big hump of litter with files. In addition to this, near the warter park there is a palstic bags and food on the ground.
However, I would like to sincerely provide some insights for the improvement. Firstly, proper garbage bins should be provided.
Secondly, impose of singage so that individuals should know where to throw garbage.
I hope you will like my suggestions and will work on it.
Yours faithfully,
Parneet

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you explain that you walk in Elandro Park to relax and connect with nature, describe litter near the entrance and water park, and suggest bins and signs. The letter’s purpose is clear from the opening, and the details are relevant. Some parts are less fully developed, however. The description of the litter is brief, and “a big hump of litter with files” is unclear, so the reader may not know exactly what has been left. Your proposed measures are sensible but would be stronger with a little explanation, such as who should provide bins or how signs could encourage responsible disposal. The response already covers the task well overall; clearer, more specific support would make the ideas more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: you introduce the concern, describe your walks, give examples of litter, and then offer solutions. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these stages, and linking expressions such as “In addition to this” and “Secondly” make the sequence explicit. Some cohesion is still mechanical, particularly the list-like “Firstly” and “Secondly,” and the connection between your enjoyment of walking and the litter problem could be made more smoothly. A few references are also unclear, such as “work on it,” which does not specify whether you mean the newspaper or local authorities. Use transitions that show the relationship between ideas and make references more precise to strengthen the progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “litter,” “garbage bins,” “plastic bags,” and “connect with nature,” so the main message is generally understandable. However, the range and control are limited, and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to interpret. For example, “newpaper,” “disstressed,” and “palstic” are misspelled, while “a big hump of litter with files” does not clearly describe the rubbish. Phrases such as “bring your attention towards” and “impose of singage” are also unnatural or inaccurate. Aim for precise, conventional expressions such as “draw attention to,” “a pile of rubbish,” and “install signs.” Proofreading spelling and collocations would improve clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, including the relative clause in “Elandro park … which is near by house” and the reason clause beginning “As it is increasing day by day.” The overall meaning can usually be followed, but there are some errors in sentence construction, verb forms, articles, and punctuation. For instance, “I want this issue to be publish” needs a passive form, while “I got some quality of time” does not fit the surrounding present-tense description. The sentence beginning “Everyday I go” also has awkward clause structure, and commas are often separated from the preceding word or used inconsistently. Practise accurate passive constructions and keep tense choices consistent while proofreading sentence boundaries and punctuation.
