Student answer (Band 5.5)

Dear Sir,

I am writing this letter to express my concern on some unhygenic activity in countryside near my home.

After a busy hectic day, I go around our town with my friends to get some fresh air and enjoy some quality time. While walking, we observe litter and rubbish near public park and on footpath and that is mostly being thrown by the owner of street food's cart and walkers.

We request to municipal corporation to arrange video survelience around the area and imposed fine on those who spread litter and garbage. We asked them also that why they do not throw garbage in designated area, they said that area is very far so if you arrange garbage collection truck in that area which can come every evening to collect the litter then it will also be ease for them too.

If necessory steps can be taken to stop we can maintain cleanliness and stop diseases to be spread.

I hope you will look it this matter very closely.

Sincerely,

Aram ryan

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address the main points: you explain that walking with friends helps you get fresh air and spend time together, identify litter near the park and footpath, and propose fines, surveillance, and a regular collection truck. These are relevant, practical ideas. However, the location is described only generally as “around our town,” so the countryside setting and why you personally enjoy walking there could be clearer. The description of the rubbish is also broad, and the proposed actions are not fully explained—for example, who would arrange them or how the newspaper could help. Develop these details and make your request to the newspaper more explicit to make the letter more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The letter has a recognisable structure, moving from your concern to the situation, proposed solutions, and a closing request. Paragraphs generally group related information, and phrases such as “After a busy hectic day” and “While walking” help establish context. However, the progression within the solutions paragraph is difficult to follow: the shift from asking the municipal corporation to describing a conversation with walkers is abrupt, and “We asked them also” leaves the reference to “them” unclear. The final paragraph is very brief and does not clearly connect the suggested actions to the newspaper’s role. Use clearer transitions and separate the problem, your suggestions, and your request into more focused paragraphs.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the issue, including “litter,” “rubbish,” “footpath,” “designated area,” and “garbage collection truck.” There are also attempts at more formal language, such as “express my concern” and “municipal corporation.” However, several choices or spellings are inaccurate or unnatural, including “unhygenic activity,” “video survelience,” “imposed fine,” and “it will also be ease.” “Litter and rubbish” is also repetitive, while the kinds of waste are not described specifically. Aim for accurate collocations and check spelling; more precise terms such as “food wrappers” or “plastic bottles” would make the description clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including the conditional idea “if you arrange garbage collection truck in that area … then it will also be ease for them.” This shows an effort to explain cause and effect, but the longer sentence is difficult to control and contains several grammatical problems. Other examples include “concern on some,” “litter … that is mostly being thrown,” and “If necessory steps can be taken to stop we can maintain cleanliness,” where sentence structure and relationships between clauses are unclear. Articles and verb forms also need attention, as in “arrange garbage collection truck” and “imposed fine.” Practise building complex sentences in shorter, clearly connected clauses, and check agreement, articles, and punctuation.
