Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the problem of more and more litter left by other walkers on the walking riverfront in the countryside near by my home.
First off all, I would like to explain that, I really like to enjoy walking in the riverfront walkpath in the countryside near my home. In addition, this activity of walking helps me to feel fresh and clam myself from the stress which I get from my workplace.
Futhermore, I would like to mention that while on my walk I found a problem of increasing litter in the walkpath left by other walkers and this is getting more and more day-by-day. This is important becuase, the problem of litter creates the path with bad smell and bacteria or viruses caused by insects are getting imense.
Therefore, I would appreciate it if you could held a programme of spreading awareness to the people who uasually walks on that path and write an article on it to spread it widly. I hope you will consider my request and respond at the earliest convenience.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Yours Faithfuly,
Rushit Dave

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you explain that walking by the river helps you feel refreshed and manage work stress, describe litter and its effects, and ask the newspaper to raise awareness. The purpose and generally formal tone are clear. However, the description of the litter itself is under-developed: you mention a bad smell and insects, but do not say what kinds of rubbish you have seen or where it accumulates. The proposed response is relevant, but mainly focuses on an awareness programme and an article; you could make it more practical by suggesting bins, signs, or organised clean-ups. Developing these details would make the response more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall sequence: it introduces the concern, explains your enjoyment of walking, describes the problem, and ends with a request. Paragraphing helps distinguish these points, and linking expressions such as “In addition,” “Furthermore,” and “Therefore” make the progression easy to follow. The organisation is effective, though some transitions feel formulaic, and the opening repeats the idea of walking near your home before the next paragraph explains it again. The long sentence beginning “Furthermore” also combines the growing litter problem and its consequences, making the relationship between details less clear. Use more varied, natural transitions and separate the problem from its effects to strengthen the flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “dissatisfaction,” “awareness,” “stress,” and “consideration,” and your meaning is generally understandable. There are, however, noticeable spelling errors and awkward word combinations that reduce precision, such as “Futhermore,” “becuase,” “imense,” and “spread it widly.” Phrases such as “walking riverfront” and “riverfront walkpath” are also unnatural or repetitive; a clearer expression would be “riverside path.” The description would benefit from more specific vocabulary for the rubbish itself, such as food packaging or plastic bottles. Aim to check spelling carefully and choose natural collocations rather than combining words literally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a relative clause in “the stress which I get from my workplace” and a conditional request with “I would appreciate it if…”. The main message remains clear, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “I really like to enjoy walking” uses an unnecessary verb pattern, and “people who uasually walks” has a subject–verb agreement error. The sentence “I found a problem of increasing litter… and this is getting more and more day-by-day” is also awkwardly constructed, while commas after “explain that” and “because” interrupt the sentence. Review verb patterns, agreement, and punctuation, and aim for more consistently controlled complex sentences.
