You enjoy walking in the countryside near your home. However, you are noticing that there is more and more litter left there by other walkers.
Write a letter to your local newspaper. In your letter
say why you enjoy walking and where
describe the litter you have seen on your walks
suggest what might be done about the problem
You do NOT need to write any addresses.
Begin your letter as follows:
Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
Today, I want to tell you about my favorite hobby which is walking in a free time after eating a meal in nearby streets from my home and a beautful park which is located very near from my home.
I enjoy that activity especially where there is a good weather outside and there is less crowd but the problem is that there contains a lot of pollution in roads and the garbage is thrown on the roads and sides of the roads by the other walkers in the form of plasic bags and bottles, waste of consumable items.
So, there is a dire need to spread some awareness to the public on this specific issue by placing sign boards that would discourage the people from causing dirt and garbage on. And administration also should take practical steps like placing bins on the streets and roads, and the staff should do the cleanliness on a regular and daily basis.
By doing these steps, I'm hopeful that the streets and roads would remain neat and clean and the passers by would not feel displeasure.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you explain that you walk near your home and in a nearby park, describe litter such as plastic bags and bottles, and suggest awareness signs, bins, and regular cleaning. The proposed actions are relevant and give the reader a clear sense of what could help. However, the reasons you enjoy walking are only briefly stated, and the description of the litter is general; a specific example of where or how much you have seen would make the concern more convincing. The letter also opens with “Dear Sir,” rather than the requested “Dear Sir or Madam,” and would benefit from a clearer closing appropriate for a newspaper letter. Overall, the task is covered, but some points need fuller development.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable progression: it introduces your walking, explains the litter problem, then offers solutions and a concluding hope. Paragraphing helps separate these stages, and linking expressions such as “So” and “By doing these steps” make the sequence understandable. Some connections are less smooth, however. The opening sentence combines several details, while the second paragraph moves from pleasant walking conditions to pollution without a clear transition. “And administration also” adds another suggestion mechanically, and “these steps” refers broadly to several different actions. Use clearer topic sentences and more precise links between the enjoyment of the walks, the problem, and the proposed remedies to make the progression more natural.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the topic, including “awareness,” “discourage,” “practical steps,” and “regular.” There is also some attempt at more specific language through “plastic bags and bottles” and “passers by.” However, several word choices and collocations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “in a free time,” “there contains a lot of pollution,” “causing dirt and garbage on,” and “do the cleanliness.” Spelling errors such as “beautful” and “plasic” also reduce accuracy. These choices do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points, but they limit precision and naturalness. Build a small set of accurate phrases for describing litter and recommending public action, and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a relative clause in “a park which is located very near from my home” and a conditional-style result in “By doing these steps, I'm hopeful that…”. The overall meaning remains clear, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “where there is a good weather” uses an unnecessary article, and “the staff should do the cleanliness” has an awkward verb construction. The long opening sentence also needs clearer control of its structure, and “administration also should” has an unnatural word order. Aim for more consistently accurate sentence patterns, especially with articles, prepositions, and verb phrases, while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
