Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing this letter to you to bring into your attention a serious issue that I have been observing almost daily during my morning walks .I usually starts for my morning walks around 6AM and enjoy walking down the streets with surroundings full of greenary, cool breeze and a lovely whether. From past one week I am seeing a lot of littering around my house and near by strrets . I have been noticing scambled paper being thrown out , food wrapper everywhere near the parks and cars being parked on roads instead of using the basement parking. I would Suggest that we should arrnage a dustbin around park which we do not have currently and people often find it difficult to throw waste due to this reason . Further I would suggest that we should send a note to all people having apartmerts with the clear set of instructins around they should be avoiding this behaviour and make sure our society is clean .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you explain that you enjoy morning walks among greenery and a cool breeze, describe litter near your home and parks, and propose adding bins and informing apartment residents. These ideas are relevant and the purpose of writing to the newspaper is clear. However, some parts are less fully developed than others. The litter description includes “scrambled paper” and food wrappers, but the mention of cars parked on roads is not clearly connected to litter. Your suggestions would be stronger with practical detail, such as who would maintain the bins or how residents could be encouraged to use them. Clarifying the countryside location, rather than referring mainly to streets and your house, would also make the response fit the situation more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The letter follows a generally understandable order: it introduces the concern, describes what you have observed, and then offers solutions. Linking expressions such as “Further” help signal an additional suggestion. However, the response is presented as one long paragraph, so the shift from your enjoyment of walking to the litter problem and then to proposed action is not clearly marked. Some connections are also awkward or unclear, particularly the move from litter to cars parked on roads. Use separate paragraphs for the background, observations, and recommendations, and make the relationship between each detail explicit. A conventional closing would also help the letter feel complete.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “littering,” “food wrapper,” “dustbin,” and “basement parking,” and the reader can understand the main concern. There are also attempts at more descriptive language, such as “cool breeze.” However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural word choices are noticeable, including “greenary,” “whether,” “scrambled paper,” and “near by strrets.” Some phrases, such as “bring into your attention,” are not natural collocations. These slips reduce precision and make parts of the letter less fluent, even though the central message remains clear. Check spelling carefully and choose standard expressions such as “draw your attention to” and “littered paper.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with reasons and suggestions, for example, “people often find it difficult to throw waste due to this reason.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries. For instance, “I usually starts” should be “I usually start,” and “From past one week I am seeing” needs a more accurate tense construction, such as “For the past week, I have been seeing.” The long sentence beginning “I would Suggest” also needs clearer punctuation and sentence division. Aim to control these patterns while retaining a mix of sentence structures; proofreading for subject–verb agreement and tense consistency would improve accuracy.
