Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I am grabbing your attention by this letter towards the garbage issue faced by rural area people.
I lived in the countryside area of the city and there are plenty of parks and local gardens available for community. However, in this letter I just want to you pay attention to Mount Castle Park; I usually walk especially evening time where I am meeting the other families. These parks have enourmous utilies like play-structure area, football and handball ground, water fountains and small gardens with amazing flowers. Like others, I walks everyday in the parks to attain fresk air and relieve my workload stress.
From few days other communities members and myself were facing the litter hurdle in the park. Eventhough, we cleaned the park everyweekend by ourself despite the city have own people who are responsible for the city's parks and gardens. During the walk on pedestrain way there are escalation in the garbage like pizza boxes, soda cans, snack wrappers and so on. Although, this parks has numerous garbage bins at there desginated areas but still all the rubbish are on the ground.
Ought to this dilemma, many diesease causing bacteria, virus and mosquitoes will produced and will impact on human well-being. I would recommend that city need to promotes some camps and advertisements that will educate and aware communities about the issue. Additionally, city will implement some fine and punishment if somebody will voilate the law about cleaniness of the city.
Kind regards,
Harman Singh

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you explain that you walk in Mount Castle Park for fresh air and stress relief, describe litter such as pizza boxes, cans and wrappers, and suggest education campaigns and fines. These details make the letter relevant and give the reader a clear sense of the problem. The description of why you enjoy walking is more developed than the proposed solutions, which are presented briefly and without explaining how they would work or who would organise them. The opening also refers broadly to a “garbage issue faced by rural area people” rather than immediately framing this as a concern for the newspaper’s readers. More specific, supported suggestions and a consistently clear focus would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a coherent overall arrangement: it introduces the concern, gives background about your walks, describes the litter, and ends with possible responses. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and phrases such as “Additionally” signal a further suggestion. However, some links are awkward or mechanical, including “From few days” and “Ought to this dilemma,” which make the progression harder to follow. The reference in “These parks” is also unclear after you have singled out Mount Castle Park, and the shift from describing one park to discussing parks generally blurs the focus. Use more natural transitions and keep references consistent so the reader can follow the argument smoothly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “pedestrian way,” “water fountains,” “wrappers,” “bacteria,” and “implement some fine and punishment.” This gives you enough language to communicate the main issue and propose action. However, several word choices, collocations, and spellings are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “litter hurdle,” “enourmous utilies,” “fresk air,” and “aware communities.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause to interpret your meaning. Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than more elaborate wording: for example, describe “a growing litter problem” and say campaigns could “raise awareness.” Careful proofreading of spelling and word forms would also improve clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You try to use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast with “Although” and a conditional idea about penalties. However, control is inconsistent, and errors occur across verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. Examples include “I walks everyday,” “city need to promotes,” and “many … bacteria, virus and mosquitoes will produced.” Some longer sentences, such as the one beginning “Eventhough,” are difficult to follow because their clauses are not joined accurately. Practise building reliable sentences first, then extend them with subordinate clauses. Check subject–verb agreement, verb forms after modal verbs, and whether each sentence has a complete, correctly connected structure.
