Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing a letter to inform you about a issue that is causing by people in our countryside park. They are just spreading garbage in the park by not throwing into the garbage bins.

The park is near by my home and countryside which is a beautiful attraction for adults and senior citizen. Although, I like to visit there to refresh my mind after the stressful life. Talkin about the beauty it has lots of plants and trees which brings closer to nature, where there is a playing area for children to enjoy after their academic work.

From the past few day, when I visit for walking I saw used plastic bottles are throwed on the benches, chips packet are on the walking path and so many things. This will cause serious health problems like dengue because this litter will inviting more mosquitos in the park.

I would recommend you to print into your newspaper to aware the individual to throw trash in the garbage bins. Moreover, you can also organize a campaign and educate people about the garbage disposal.

Thank you for giving your time and hope this problem will solve.

Best Regards,

Moksh

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three points: you explain that the park is near your home and that walking there helps you refresh your mind, describe bottles and snack packets left behind, and suggest newspaper awareness and an educational campaign. These details make the letter relevant and its purpose clear. The description of why you enjoy walking is more developed than the proposed solutions, which remain general: for example, you could explain who should organise the campaign or suggest adding more bins and signs. The health concern adds a relevant consequence, though it would be stronger if expressed more precisely. The response covers the task well overall, but some ideas need further development and specificity.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall structure: the opening identifies the problem, the following paragraphs explain your connection to the park and describe the litter, and the final paragraph offers solutions. This progression helps the reader follow your purpose. You also use linking expressions such as “Although,” “From the past few day,” and “Moreover” to connect ideas. However, some links are awkward or do not show the intended relationship clearly; “Although” introduces no contrasting clause, and “Talkin about the beauty” feels abrupt. The long paragraph about the park combines several points, while the closing could be more clearly separated from the recommendations. More natural transitions and tighter paragraph focus would make the organisation smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the topic, including “countryside,” “walking path,” “garbage bins,” “campaign,” and “garbage disposal.” Some choices show an attempt to be specific, such as naming plastic bottles and chips packets. However, several word choices and collocations are noticeably inaccurate or unnatural, including “a issue,” “spreading garbage,” “print into your newspaper,” and “aware the individual.” These sometimes make the reader pause, even though the intended meaning is generally recoverable. Aim for natural combinations such as “littering,” “publish an appeal,” and “raise awareness among residents.” Greater accuracy with word forms and common collocations would make your vocabulary more effective and flexible.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, for example the sentence beginning “Although, I like to visit there” and the explanation of how litter may affect health. The main message remains understandable, but grammatical control is uneven, and errors occur across sentence patterns. Examples include “a issue that is causing,” “which brings closer to nature,” “From the past few day,” and “This will cause … because this litter will inviting.” There are also problems with articles, agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction. Practise building accurate clauses first, then combine them using conjunctions; for instance, make sure an “although” clause is paired with a contrasting main clause. More reliable verb forms and agreement would improve clarity.
