say why you enjoy walking and where
describe the litter you have seen on your walks

You do NOT need to write any addresses.
Begin your letter as follows:
Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Editor,
I am writing to bring to your attention about the garbage mess on the walking trail near by my locality. I prefer to walk in every morning on the countryside path and I am noticing the amount of litter has been growing for the past two months.
Although, I enjoy this trail a lot because it helps me to unwind and relieve pressure of my busy working life. Further, I perform some yoga positions in the community park to make my self feel better.
However, I have noticed that some of individuals are openly throwing the litter on the path. Which includes plastic water bottles, bags or junk food packets as well. In addition, many people bring their pets to the field and do not pick their feces some time.
I would like to suggest a few solutions to this problem. Firstly, municipal corporation must provide enough garbage bins on the countryside's locations. Secondly, awareness posters along with strict fine should be put up on the walking trail.
I hope you publish this issue in your newspaper soon so that local authorities and individuals can be aware with this problem. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully
Dany

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You address all three points: you explain that walking helps you “unwind and relieve pressure,” describe bottles, bags, food packets and pet waste, and propose bins, posters and fines. The purpose is clear throughout, and the letter is appropriately directed to a newspaper. The suggestions are relevant, but they are presented briefly; for example, you could explain how posters might change walkers’ behaviour or who should enforce fines. The location is also described generally as a trail near your locality, rather than identifying a more specific countryside area. Developing these details and supporting the proposed actions would make the response more fully extended while retaining its clear focus.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter has a clear progression from the problem, to your reasons for walking, to examples of litter and possible solutions. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these stages, and linking expressions such as “In addition” and “Firstly” make relationships between ideas clear. The closing also suits the purpose of writing to a newspaper. Some transitions are less effective: “Although” begins a sentence without a contrasting clause, and “However” does not clearly connect the paragraph to the preceding one. The sequence could be smoother if you introduced your enjoyment first, then described the worsening litter, before moving to solutions. Overall, the organisation is logical, though a few cohesive choices need more careful control.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range to communicate the topic, including “unwind,” “litter,” “strict fine” and “municipal corporation.” The examples of waste are specific enough to make the problem clear. However, several word choices or combinations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “garbage mess,” “walking trail,” “some of individuals” and “aware with this problem.” “Feces” is understandable but sounds less natural in this context than “pet waste” or “dog waste.” These choices do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and naturalness. Aim to learn common collocations for public spaces and environmental issues, and check whether a phrase sounds idiomatic in a formal letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex forms, including the reason clause “because it helps me to unwind” and the sentence beginning “Although.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “I prefer to walk in every morning” has an unnecessary preposition, while “I am noticing the amount of litter has been growing” needs a clearer clause structure and tense choice. “Which includes…” is a sentence fragment, and “some of individuals” is missing a determiner. There are also issues with “do not pick their feces some time” and “strict fine should be put up,” where sentence construction and agreement need attention. Review clause boundaries, articles and verb patterns, then proofread for complete sentences.
