Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear sir or Madam,
I am writing this latter to express my concern regarding the litter on river bank and in the park, which is located next to the riverbank in countryside area.
The riverbank is really beautiful place to walk during sunrise and sunset. Most of the people are coming for walk here everyday.I have been walkig here from last 10 years, due to eye cathing view of the riverside during morning and evening. But from last many time I have noticed that due to increasing number of visiter, the amount of trash are increasing, this due to lack of facilities and awewness about it into the community.I have seen garbage in walkways, in garden and I have watched some of the plastic bottles flowting into the river.
Could you please mantion about this issue into your newspaper. The Times of India is really populer nwespaper across, which can help to educate individuals. Moreover, can you please request local authorities to instal new garbage around the area and fund new team to clean this walkway, garden and river everyday.
Thnak you for consideration and time, look forward to hearing from you.
Your Faithfully,
Aazan Solanki.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you explain that you enjoy the riverside at sunrise and sunset, describe litter such as rubbish on walkways and plastic bottles in the river, and ask the newspaper and local authorities to act. These details make the letter relevant and its purpose clear. The suggestions to install bins and fund a cleaning team are useful, but the proposed action could be developed further—for example, by suggesting signs, public awareness campaigns, or enforcement. The reason litter is increasing is also somewhat unclear: you mention more visitors and a lack of facilities and awareness, but do not explain how these factors contribute. More specific support would make the response more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The ideas follow a generally sensible order: you introduce your concern, describe the place and the litter, then make requests. Linking expressions such as “Moreover” help connect the proposed actions, and the reader can follow the overall purpose. However, most of the letter is presented in one long paragraph, so the shift from describing the problem to requesting solutions is not clearly marked. Some connections are also awkward or unclear, particularly “this due to lack of facilities and awewness about it into the community.” Use separate paragraphs for the background, evidence, and requests, and make links between causes and effects more explicit. This would give the letter clearer progression and more controlled cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “riverbank,” “walkways,” “plastic bottles,” “local authorities,” and “educate individuals.” This gives you enough language to communicate the main concern and suggest action. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices are noticeable, including “latter” for “letter,” “visiter,” “flowting,” and “instal.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “fund new team” and “garbage around the area.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause, even though the intended meaning is usually recoverable. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations such as “install rubbish bins” and “fund a cleaning team” to make your vocabulary more precise and natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a relative clause in “the park, which is located next to the riverbank” and a longer sentence describing the increase in rubbish. The main message remains understandable, but errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries are frequent enough to affect clarity. For example, “I have been walkig here from last 10 years” needs a present perfect continuous form with “for,” while “the amount of trash are increasing” has a subject–verb agreement error. There are also run-on sentences, such as the sentence beginning “Most of the people,” where ideas are joined without adequate punctuation. Practise accurate tense patterns and divide long sentences into shorter, complete units.
