Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I hooe this letter finds you well. I am writing to share my concern with you which I have been facing for a long time. I am a nature lover and in my daily routine I like to go on a small walk towards to the countryside. It gives me peace and good for our physical and mental well-being.
Since last few months, I am noticing that people throw their empty plastic water bottles and household trash in open field or at the corner of sidewalk. This activity is increasing sharply day by day. As per my understanding, it is crucial to step in and control them to do these kind of activities illlegal.
As a solution, I would like to request you to publish the newspapers as a public awareness to stop it. On your behalf, I want to request city incharge to place more trash cans beside the walk to make more accessible to walkers to throw their empty beverage or water bottle.
I appreciate your attention on this matter and looking forward to your prompt response.
Best Regards,
Jashanveer Singh.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you explain that walking in the countryside brings you peace and supports well-being, describe bottles and household rubbish left in fields and beside the sidewalk, and propose newspaper awareness and more bins. The purpose of writing to the local newspaper is clear, and the tone is generally appropriate. The reasons for enjoying the walks and the proposed measures are relevant, but they are not equally developed: for example, you could specify what makes the countryside near your home enjoyable and explain how public notices or bins would reduce litter. The request to the city is also somewhat indirect. More detail and a clearer, more specific call to action would make the letter more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening explains your concern, the next paragraph describes the litter, and the final body paragraph offers solutions. This progression helps the reader follow your purpose, and phrases such as “Since last few months” and “As a solution” signal shifts between ideas. However, some links are mechanical or unclear. In “I am writing to share my concern with you which I have been facing,” the reference of “which” is awkward, while “On your behalf” does not clearly connect the newspaper to the request directed to the city. Paragraphing is appropriate, but clearer links between the problem, the newspaper’s role, and the city’s role would make the cohesion more flexible and precise.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main points, including “plastic water bottles,” “household trash,” “public awareness,” and “trash cans.” There are also attempts at more formal expressions, such as “crucial to step in” and “I appreciate your attention.” However, noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation problems reduce precision: “hooe,” “illlegal,” “publish the newspapers as a public awareness,” and “city incharge” are not natural or accurate choices. Some wording is also vague, such as “small walk” and “this activity.” Aim for standard spellings and more natural combinations, for example, “raise public awareness” and “ask the city authorities.” This would make the message smoother and more appropriately formal.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the main message remains understandable. For instance, you connect the litter problem to a proposed response using “As a solution,” and the sentence about bottles and household rubbish gives relevant detail. However, some grammatical errors affect clarity and control. In “It gives me peace and good for our physical and mental well-being,” the two parts do not share a correct structure; write “It gives me peace and is good for…” Also, “Since last few months, I am noticing” needs a more suitable time expression and tense, such as “For the last few months, I have noticed.” Other examples include “towards to the countryside” and “looking forward to your prompt response,” where the preposition or subject is missing. Review tense, articles, and sentence structure.
