Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the task. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding 'trade' and 'profit' during sporting events is a bit tangential to the core theme of international friendship versus competition. The position is clear, but the supporting points lack depth and specific, well-integrated examples. To improve, you should focus on expanding your arguments with more logical reasoning and ensuring that every point directly supports the prompt's central theme of international relations.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'One the one hand side' and 'As a conclusion' are non-standard and slightly awkward. Additionally, the transition between ideas within paragraphs is sometimes abrupt, making the flow feel disjointed. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and phrases more naturally, and ensure that each sentence connects smoothly to the next to create a more cohesive argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'tourist attractive places' instead of 'tourist attractions' and 'bulling each others' instead of 'bullying one another'. The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, relying on basic descriptors. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and topic-specific vocabulary related to international relations and sports, while paying closer attention to word forms and standard usage.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'this events are'), article usage (e.g., 'in sport spirit'), and prepositional errors. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with pluralization and verb tenses, and practice constructing more complex sentences with greater precision.
