Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people thinks that sports events helps to connect people from different nations, whereas some believe sports activities only promote competition between different country's citizens. I will discuss both views in upcoming paragraphs.

The prominent reason why people thinks sports helps to together people from different countries is interaction. Sports give chance to people come from other countries. It helps to know about particular culture and meet different people. It can promote friendship between them as well as understanding. The match also gives them an opportunity to visit the country and interact with local people. If they like the country, they may visit again and again, which helps bring people from different countries together. For example, one Indian podcast claim that 80 percent come every year to India as touraism. They came first in india when world cup held in 2016 and they explored india that time and they liked it. Since they visit regularly.

While some believe sports give sense of competition between different country's people. There are some who believe that their own country needs to win at any coast. If Particular team lose match, people from that country tries to fight with other people. They can hold grudges for each other. It can disturb the understanding as well as relations.

In Conclusion, despite sports bring people together from different countries, it can cause also fight. Every person has different mindset. Some tries to make good relationship, whereas others thinks about competition.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, though the development is limited. The essay falls short of the 250-word minimum, which impacts the depth of the arguments. While the ideas are relevant, the supporting examples—such as the reference to an 'Indian podcast'—are vague and lack sufficient detail to fully support the points made. The position is clear, but the overall development is somewhat superficial, and the conclusion is brief. To improve, you should expand on your examples and ensure you meet the minimum word count to allow for a more thorough exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite mechanical and sometimes inaccurate. For example, the transition 'While some believe...' at the start of the third paragraph is grammatically incomplete. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences is sometimes choppy. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and phrases more naturally to connect your ideas, and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'helps to together people' and 'at any coast' (instead of 'at any cost'). The range of vocabulary is limited, and there is some repetition of basic terms. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to international relations and sports, and pay closer attention to collocations to ensure your word choices sound natural and accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Some people thinks', 'sports helps', 'others thinks') and pluralisation (e.g., 'different country's citizens'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences often contain errors. Punctuation is also inconsistent. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and proofreading your work to catch these common slips.
