Student answer (Band 6.0)

Sports are playing a very pivotal role in this world. People has craze of it. It is believed by some that the worldwide sports events like The Olympics or the Football World Cup brings countries close, while other thinks these platforms makes competition and not friendship. This essay will discuss both views.

To begin with, folks who believe that such activities brings multinational countries together. Firstly, it increases tourism. When any sports is held in any country then people from different countries comes to attend match live. Secondly, cultural respect increases. When folks from different territory meet at one place comes to know each other culture and tradition. Therefore, this brings opportunity of learn and to know about various humans. This build up friendship. For instance, I attend last match in Canada and I got new friends from Argentina. Interestingly, we are still in contact, although we made a lot of memories at that time.

On the other hand, sometimes these matches brings fights due to high competition between countries which further brings bad results. When any conflict occurs then people from their country starts hating folks from another country. And things got caught in mind which makes negative impact in their behavior. For instance, last year in FIFA there was fight between two countries and people says the result was not fair.

To be concluded, some believe these matches makes good bond among international countries while, other don't. I believe these sports play pivotal role among multinational countries which brings them together and also, there are very less chance of fights.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention tourism and cultural respect, the points are not fully extended with depth. For example, the explanation of how sports lead to 'bad results' is vague and lacks a convincing link to the prompt's theme of international relations. To improve, ensure that each supporting point is explained with more detail and logical progression, rather than relying on brief, repetitive statements. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments need more substance to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'Firstly', and 'On the other hand' to signal transitions. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear (e.g., 'things got caught in mind'). The connection between sentences could be smoother; some ideas feel like a list of points rather than a cohesive argument. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that pronouns and referencing clearly point back to the intended subjects.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is quite repetitive and lacks sophistication. You use basic terms like 'good', 'bad', and 'fights' frequently. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'people has craze of it' and 'multinational countries', which are not standard English usage. To achieve a higher band, you should aim to use more precise, academic vocabulary and idiomatic collocations. Focus on learning word families and how they fit into formal contexts rather than relying on simple, everyday language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people has', 'events... brings', 'people from different countries comes'). Additionally, there are issues with article usage and sentence structure, such as 'I attend last match' instead of 'I attended the last match'. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors indicate a lack of control over complex structures. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and the correct use of tenses, and then gradually incorporate more complex sentence structures like relative clauses or conditional sentences.
