Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this contemporary era, a group of individuals think that events at international level such as, Olympics or Football world cup are better to bring nations together. While, some think that those events create dispute of competition rather than friendship between nations. This will explain both side views along with my opinion on this matter.

To begin with, there are many reason behind the view of event held at international level bring nation together. First and foremost reason behind this is that it can bring culture together, that means country can exchange their culture this is the first starting stage of friendship. To explain this further, individual who come from different state for the particular event to watch on, they make new friends during the match by exchanging idea of match and sharing common interest for the player they are supporting. After that, individual can invite them at their place for dinner or lunch and from where they started to exchange culture and their ritual. This will directly increase the value of each country. For example, recently CANADA organized FIFA world cup, during that time a lot of people visited Canada and this country celebrate the culture of some nation like Carrebian dance form Africa and Navratri from India.

On the other hand, there are some reason why it create the dispute of competition other than friendship. Firstly, when two people from different supporters met and they are not taking it as a game other than they take it as a personal damage. They will start fighting and then some times the fight reaches at the level where no one can stop it. Secondly, some nation want some of the trophy in their country and they will try to fix those match by giving a monetary support to the players and than the particular nation will get offend. So, some nation want to play in their country rather than other. Last reason in this regard is that, events who organized by the country, it generate the revenue hence, the country will be lead of other one. Example, India is generating largest revenue in the World compared to other nations as per the latest reports because India is organizing Cricket world cup matches every year.

In conclusion, it is not deniable event held at international level brought some culture exchange between country, but it also create some problems like drastic change in country's friendship and they are letting other country in lead, in terms of generating revenue by not supporting their own country to grow.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The arguments regarding cultural exchange are relevant, but the points about 'match fixing' and 'monetary support' are underdeveloped and lack logical clarity. The example of Canada hosting the FIFA World Cup is factually inaccurate, which weakens the support for your argument. To improve, ensure that your examples are accurate and that your reasoning follows a logical progression without relying on unsubstantiated claims. The position is clear, but the supporting evidence needs more precision to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with,' 'On the other hand,' and 'In conclusion.' However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'After that, individual can invite them.' Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences is sometimes disjointed. While the overall progression is logical, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the occasional awkward phrasing mean that cohesion is not always managed with the flexibility required for higher bands.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'international level,' 'cultural exchange,' and 'revenue.' However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'create the dispute of competition,' 'monetary support to the players,' and 'get offend.' These errors do not impede communication, but they demonstrate a limited range of vocabulary and a lack of precision in expressing complex ideas. To improve, focus on learning collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'individual who come,' 'some nation want'), article usage, and pluralization (e.g., 'many reason,' 'events who organized'). While these errors rarely prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are persistent and occur in both simple and complex sentences. To reach a higher band, you need to improve your control over basic grammar and punctuation, particularly regarding plural forms and verb tenses.
