Student answer (Band 6.0)

In all over the world, the popularity and preference of physical sports has been significantly increased. Most of the individuals consider that it is a symbol of postive relations between countries when the Olympics and the soccer are played internationally. However, culprits opine that these activities are well known for competition purposes between nations. This essay will elaborate both sides along with my own opinion before reaching the final conclusion.

To begin with, it is common to see internationally as positive relationships between regions when sport events are gotten to held in different places. For instance, a match playing by two distinct teams on international level in a third country puts a considerable positive impact on people's mind as teams, tourists and main bodies of each country come to join a specific destination at the same time. Hence, nations start to build good relations, build trust and increase their import and export businesses with each other.

On the other hand, it is also assumed by most of the predators that having the Olympics and the football world Cup between countries can be considered as competition purposes not just to build up relations or trust. To elaborate, when a team loose a match as internationally, it downgrades the overall reputation of a region and at same time it may create the immense consiquences for wining the next match at any cost from the previous wins team.

To conclude, although to some point it may be seen from a negative point of view to play a game internationally but all its positive effects can not be neglected and I also believe that having the World Cup match between countries considerably impacts in the well being of nations and to enhance the productivity as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'competition' is vague, mentioning 'immense consequences' without explaining what these are or providing a concrete example. The term 'culprits' is used incorrectly to refer to people who hold a different opinion, which suggests a misunderstanding of the task's requirements for formal tone and precise vocabulary. While the main points are relevant, they lack the depth and specific supporting evidence required for a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'On the other hand', and 'To conclude' are used to signal the structure. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical or awkward, such as the phrase 'sport events are gotten to held in different places'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the transition between ideas could be smoother. While the overall progression is logical, the use of cohesive devices is not always natural or sophisticated.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary range is adequate for the task but contains several inappropriate word choices and collocations. For example, 'culprits' is used to mean 'opponents' or 'critics', and 'predators' is used to refer to people with a different viewpoint, which is confusing and inaccurate. There are also issues with word forms, such as 'postive' (spelling) and 'wining' (spelling). While the student attempts to use a variety of terms, the frequent misuse of vocabulary and spelling errors occasionally impede the clarity of the argument.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'In all over the world', 'a match playing by two distinct teams', and 'it may create the immense consiquences for wining the next match'. These errors, while not completely obscuring meaning, are persistent and affect the overall fluency of the writing. The control over complex structures is inconsistent, and the frequency of errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band.
