Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is debatable among people that internationals sports can strengthen the bond between nations while some believe that this create feeling of competition in countries rather than building a friendly relation. However, in my opinion, these sports are actually good way to make strong relations among countries.

To commence with, International games give opportunity to meet different cultures at one place. To elaborate, meeting people from variety of cultures let people know about different foods ,clothes and they do talk about it that builds inclination towards each other. Apart from this ,these sports have increased people's interest towards different games those are not even that popular in their own country, this gives them chance to have conversation about it with people of those respective nations.

On the contrary, It is believed by opponents that these sports originates feeling of retaliation and competition in people. They think that wining and losing is part of games, but, when these games are organized at such level then viewers take it way too serious. Furthermore, these games divide people as they support their own teams and start to relating it with patriotism that is not at all right.

In my viewpoint, these games are necessary as these games opens up the plethora of opportunities to get knowledge about different countries, their cultures and different games that are uncommon in their own country.

To conclude, although, international sports create little bit feeling of competition, but still I believe its a healthy competition and people are sensible enough to take games as games rather than making it rivalary.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both perspectives and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the cultural exchange aspect and the potential for nationalistic rivalry. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the point about 'retaliation and competition' is mentioned but not fully explored with specific examples or deeper analysis. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your arguments with more concrete illustrations or logical reasoning. The position is consistent throughout the essay, which helps in meeting the requirements for this criterion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'On the contrary', and 'To conclude' to signal the progression of your argument. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the transition 'Apart from this ,these sports have increased...'. Additionally, there are some issues with referencing and flow, particularly in the second paragraph where the connection between cultural exchange and conversation about games is a bit abrupt. Improving the variety and naturalness of your linking words would enhance the overall flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'inclination', 'retaliation', and 'plethora'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and minor collocation errors, such as 'internationals sports' (international sports), 'make strong relations' (build strong relations), and 'take it way too serious' (take it too seriously). While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the precision of your expression. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that your word forms (e.g., noun vs. adjective) are accurate in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('this create', 'these games opens up') and article usage ('at such level'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some missing spaces after commas and unnecessary commas in certain places. Although these errors are noticeable, they rarely prevent the reader from understanding your intended meaning. To improve, pay closer attention to basic grammatical rules like subject-verb agreement and proofread your work to catch small mechanical slips.
