Student answer (Band 6.0)
In today's society, a number of individuals argue that to bring communties together, sports events including Olympics Games or the Football World Cup, are beneficial. On the contrary, many say that such events create rivalry between countries rather than unity. I believe that organizing Global sporting events is an effective way of brining nations closer together.
On the one hand, people say that Olympics Games and Cricket tournaments allows residents of different regions to find a common ground and celebrate. In other words, these sporting events may become a shared topic of discussion between strangers, even between people with different cultural backgrounds. For example, FIFA World Cup brings millions of people from different countries together in bars, parks and stadiums, where they support their teams and enjoy their time. As a result, sporting events encourage social interactions and creates a sense of unity among people of diverse backgrounds.
The opposing argument states that any global sports event brings the notion of competetion and challenege among residents of participating countries. This is because, it creats a tension of competeing with each other and fighting over victory. A wrong impression of becoming superior over others is given to the communities. Consequently, this leads to challeneges related to fights and arguments in public areas. However, there are measures, such as deploying Polic officers at crowed places during these events, which can help control such scenarios.
In my opinion, Unity is considered a positive outcome of steps taken by introducing sports and recreational events for the residents of different cultures. However, The idea of bringing competitive notion between two natons can be demotivated by taking strict measures by officials.
In conclusion, Although supporting events may be a reason of competition among teams and countries, however, my opinion is tha many find way to unit and celebrate such global sports tournaments.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The student addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on international sports events—that they bring countries together versus creating rivalry—and presents a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. Ideas are relevant, such as mentioning the FIFA World Cup and the notion of competition creating public tension. However, some arguments are slightly repetitive or under-developed, particularly the brief conclusion regarding how to mitigate negative competitiveness. Overall, the response meets the criteria for Band 6.0, as all parts of the prompt are addressed with relevant ideas, though further elaboration on the examples would enhance the development of the arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure, using a standard four- or five-paragraph format. The student employs basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'The opposing argument', and 'In conclusion' to signal logical progression. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty, as seen in awkward transitions and repetitive phrasing in the concluding sentences. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun use in 'This is because, it creats a tension'. Paragraphing is used sufficiently, but the overall flow suffers from minor disruptions. These features align well with a Band 6.0 score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'recreational events', 'social interactions', and 'diverse backgrounds'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'communties' instead of communities, 'competetion' instead of competition, 'challenege', 'Polic officers', 'crowed', 'demotivated', and 'unit' instead of unite. While these inaccuracies do not seriously impede communication, they reflect a lack of precision that prevents the writing from reaching Band 7.0, making Band 6.0 the most accurate descriptor.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, with attempts at relative clauses and conditional structures. There are several grammatical and punctuation errors present, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('sporting events encourage... and creates'), incorrect verb forms ('allows residents... allows' instead of allow, and 'supporting events' instead of supporting sports events), and redundant comma placements. Although these errors persist and require some effort from the reader to parse specific sentences, they rarely impede overall communication. This performance fits comfortably within the Band 6.0 descriptor.
