Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The response attempts to address both views regarding international sports events and touches upon the writer's opinion. However, the ideas are severely underdeveloped, and the text falls significantly short of the 250-word minimum, containing only 183 words. This negative impact on length places the task achievement under the Band 5 descriptor, as the response only partially addresses the prompt. While the student mentions bringing countries together and the potential for conflict, the arguments lack depth, clear examples, and thorough explanation. For instance, the reference to Mary Kom is vague and poorly integrated. To improve, the student must expand their ideas significantly and ensure all parts of the prompt are fully explored.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The essay displays some organizational structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, but overall progression is limited due to the brevity of the text. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or repetitively, such as 'To inagurate with' and 'On the other hand side', which are unnatural and inaccurate. Paragraphing is attempted, but the body paragraphs are disjointed and overly brief. Referencing and substitution are frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the logical flow of ideas. To achieve a higher band, the student should use standard, natural transitional phrases and ensure each paragraph contains a clear topic sentence followed by supported, logically linked arguments.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently impeded by severe spelling, word choice, and collocation errors. Examples of lexical inadequacy include 'crisis of countries', 'foriegners', 'inagurate', and 'relatonship is trong'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'injustice', but inaccurate usage and poor spelling strain the reader's understanding. The lexical range is minimally adequate for basic communication, aligning with the Band 5 descriptor. To improve, the student needs to build a stronger foundation of spelling accuracy and learn standard collocations related to global issues and sports.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response exhibits a very limited range of grammatical structures. Simple sentences dominate, and attempts at complex sentences, such as 'In this world , games play very important role not only people life but also help to reduce...', are heavily flawed with missing articles, incorrect prepositions, and run-on structures. Frequent errors in punctuation, capitalization, and subject-verb agreement are present throughout the text, causing constant difficulty for the reader. There are very few error-free sentences. To reach a higher band, the student must focus on foundational grammar rules, including the correct use of articles, conjunctions, and sentence boundaries.
