Student answer (Band 5.0)

A significant amount of people thought that international sports festivals like the Olympics or football world cup is an adorable way to bring countries together while the other thinks that it can create competition, rivalry between countries.

In the first perspective there is a true fact countries come closer in sports arenas. Not only countries but also the nation of these countries sit together in a stadium. Everyone support their own favourite team. After every four years international sports function hap organized in different countries where a tons of countries participating in these events along with their teams. Players played for their country and give their best as much as they can.

On the hand, some people perspective that these events can create enemies the countries with each other not friendship. At some of point of instant this opinion may be correct but not fully Justified. If the countries enemies with each other they cannot play sports with each other under one roof. Competition is a part of game every country trying to win, but it does nt means if anu someone can loose the game it become the rivalry to the other country.

According to the my p view point, international sports events are the best opportunities to close the countries together even not only in sports but also in economic forum, because win and loss is a process of the event. Don't take it personally for the next time prepared more better for the event and collaborate other countries participants with different strategies.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on international sports events and providing an opinion. However, the ideas are somewhat limited and lack full development. For instance, the discussion on how sports foster unity is superficial, mentioning only that people sit together in a stadium. Similarly, the counterargument regarding rivalry is brief and slightly disjointed. The position is clear, appearing in the introduction and conclusion, but the supporting arguments tend to overgeneralise without strong, specific examples. While the length requirement of 250 words is met (at 255 words), the overall depth of the content aligns with a Band 5.5 to 6.0 descriptor, as the ideas are relevant but under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay displays a basic overall arrangement with clear paragraph breaks separating the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. However, the progression of ideas is frequently hindered by awkward referencing and mechanical cohesive devices. For example, transitional phrases like 'In the first perspective' and 'On the hand' are misused or unnatural. Cohesion within paragraphs is occasionally faulty, leading to abrupt shifts in thought, such as moving from sports arenas to economic forums in the conclusion. Paragraphing is present, but internal logical links need strengthening to achieve a higher band. These issues place the essay firmly in the Band 5.0 range for coherence and cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common phrases such as 'international sports festivals' and 'rivalry'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation errors throughout the text, such as 'adorable way' instead of a positive adjective like wonderful or effective, 'hap organized' which contains a tense and collocation error, and 'p view point'. Furthermore, spelling and morphological errors are present, including 'anu' and 'loose' instead of lose. These lexical limitations and frequent inaccuracies cause some distraction for the reader, fitting the Band 5.0 descriptors well.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('A significant amount of people thought... is'), missing auxiliary verbs ('Players played... and give'), and incorrect prepositional usage ('enemies the countries with each other'). Additionally, sentence structures are often fragmented or awkward, such as 'If the countries enemies with each other they cannot play sports'. While meaning is generally retrievable despite the errors, the high frequency of inaccurate complex structures keeps the score at a Band 5.0.
