Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some individuals think that international physical games are a great opportunity to bring nations close, while others argue that these events create competition between them. Both views have their own merits. Therefore, this essay will discuss both viewpoints in details including my own perspective in following paragraphs.
The most compelling reason why some people believe that international sports games are a significant way to bring the countries together is that participants exchange their culture. During games all athlets are living together under one shelter. This provides them a chance to talk. Therefore, they
become friends and share the benefits of their habits and rituals. Other person impressed by this type of routine and try to adapt that. It makes them more close.
The second view suggest that these games create competition between nations. The reason behind this view is that participants work hard to win the game. Furthermore, they think that opponant country is enemy for them. As a result, they not take steps to make friends and choose to become a rival. Moreover, in any games one country has win the game and one country has loose the competition. The country who lost the game has negative thoughts in their mind about the winning country. This type of thinking can pass to other folks of their country. As a result, these countries do not have good relation to each other in the future.
To conclude, while some individuals believe that international sports games create competition between participating countries, I believe it is beneficial for both the countries. There are several reasons because they exchange their values during their free times in the doms they are staying so they respect to each other and develop a good relationship.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The student addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on international sports events and clearly stating their own opinion in the conclusion. The introduction outlines the plan of the essay, though phrases like 'in details including my own perspective in following paragraphs' are a bit formulaic. In the body paragraphs, the ideas are relevant. The first body paragraph discusses cultural exchange, while the second discusses competition and rivalry. However, some arguments are slightly underdeveloped and over-generalized, such as the claim that opponents are viewed as enemies. Despite these minor limitations, the main aspects of the prompt are covered sufficiently, aligning with the requirements for a Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is divided into four logical paragraphs: an introduction, two body paragraphs representing each viewpoint, and a conclusion, showing a clear overall arrangement. Cohesive devices are used to guide the reader, such as 'The most compelling reason', 'The second view suggest', and 'To conclude'. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, 'Other person impressed by this type of routine and try to adapt that' contains vague referencing. Furthermore, paragraphing works adequately, but internal transitions can feel abrupt. These features place the response firmly in the Band 6.0 category for Coherence and Cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms like 'opportunity', 'compelling reason', 'cultural exchange', and 'rivalry'. However, there are noticeable lexical and word choice inaccuracies throughout the text, such as 'physical games' instead of sporting events, 'under one shelter' instead of under one roof, and 'opponant' instead of opponent. Additionally, word forms are sometimes misused, as seen in 'one country has win the game and one country has loose the competition'. These errors do not impede overall communication, reflecting the characteristics of Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional-like structures ('The country who lost the game has negative thoughts...'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors in tense, subject-verb agreement, and articles. Examples include 'athlets are living', 'Other person impressed', 'they not take steps', and 'in their free times in the doms'. Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the grammatical mistakes mean that simple sentences are often more reliable than complex ones. These patterns are typical of a Band 5.0 performance.
