Student answer (Band 6.5)
A section of society believe that, the international sports events are a good way to bring all players together from overseas to play in teams. However, others argue that sports events only leds to competitions and conflicts between players. This essay is an attempt to address both the opinions and I strongly agree that games are meant to bring all the people together.
On the one hand, sports events which are held international level helps people to make new friends. When players visit other countries to participate in games then they meet several people and become friends. For instance, Sania Mirza indian batmintion player married a Pakistani amle player which makes a bond more stronger between both the countries. Moreover, people also come across by learning various languages and culture of different countries. People try to speak the local langauge of the specified country in which the competition is being organised. This presents the respectful friendly behaviour of people towards strangers. Thus, it makes the emotional bond between the players more stronger.
On the other hand, despite these advantages some people believe that there could be heated argument between players because of international games. Some players are impatient and they never accept the loss agianst another country. In this case verbal altercations sometimes leads to physical fights at sports field. Consequently, the people who are watching live games or on TV , they start disliking other country players. Furthermore, people might use nasty tricks to win the competition. Sometimes players play games in a unhealthy way such as betting and consumption of drugs to increase physical strength. As a result, this will weaken the relationship between countries and they may also be ban the player from participating international competitions.
To conclude, although there are several drawbacks of global sports competitions in terms of arising of dsputes between countries and playing in a unnatural way. However, in my opinion if games are played in a organzied way it will make the relationship between the countries stronger. Thus, people would come to learn the value of playing in teams.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views—that sports events bring countries together and that they create competition and conflict—while also clearly stating the writer's own opinion in the introduction and conclusion. Ideas are extended with relevant examples, such as the mention of Sania Mirza to illustrate international bonds, although some points like learning local languages are slightly generalised. The position remains clear throughout the essay. The task is fully addressed and ideas are well-supported, aligning well with the Band 7 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a clear logical organisation with a recognizable introduction, body paragraphs addressing each viewpoint, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', 'Moreover', and 'To conclude' are employed to guide the reader through the text. However, referencing and transitions are at times slightly mechanical or repetitive, such as the heavy reliance on starting sentences with 'People' or 'Players'. Progression is generally clear throughout, fitting the Band 6.5 to 7 range comfortably.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task and attempts some less common items such as 'verbal altercations', 'unhealthy way', and 'disputes'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'amle player' (male), 'batmintion' (badminton), 'arising of dsputes', and 'playing in an unnatural way'. While spelling mistakes and lexical inaccuracies occur frequently, they rarely impede overall communication. The lexical control reflects the Band 6 criteria.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including conditional and concessive clauses. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'international sports events are', 'sports events... helps', 'against another country', and punctuation errors like unnecessary commas ('believe that, the international'). Furthermore, awkward phrasing such as 'amle player' and 'more stronger' show weak control over comparative structures. Communication is not heavily impeded, but errors are persistent enough to cap the score at Band 6.0.
