Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is frequently debated by many individuals about introducing sports activities to countries. Some of them argue that international sports tournament like Olympics or Football World Cup, is an optimistic way to create relationship between nations while, other think it is a competition rather than collaboration. I firmly believe that global sports tournaments results in a positive competitive approach rather than creating conflicts among nations. My justification along with both the views are discussed below.
On the one hand, hosting universal tournaments will create social and economic development among the countries. To elaborate, such events stimulates tourism and infrastructure facilities which will boost the economy of the nation. In addition, it will create a socialization among youth from different parts of the world. For instance, a recent popular FIFA World Cup event held in Qatar, showed 70% rise in tourism.
Moreover, enhances the knowledge of innovative sports and various culture among the nations.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is severely under length, containing only 153 words against the required 250-word minimum. Because of this major shortfall, the candidate cannot fully develop their ideas or adequately discuss both views as instructed in the prompt. While the introduction attempts to outline both sides and state a personal position ('I firmly believe that global sports tournaments results in a positive competitive approach'), the body paragraphs are extremely abbreviated and incomplete. The third paragraph is merely a fragment ('Moreover, enhances the knowledge of innovative sports and various culture among the nations.'), lacking a subject and full development. Due to the incomplete nature of the response and failure to meet the minimum length requirement, this falls into the lower bands.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay displays some basic organisational structure with an introduction and body paragraphs, attempting to use cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'To elaborate', and 'In addition'. However, the overall progression is severely disrupted by the extreme brevity of the text and incomplete sentences. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final body paragraph is only a single broken sentence rather than a fully developed paragraph. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'introducing sports activities to countries' in the opening sentence. While the layout shows an awareness of essay structure, the lack of developed content makes the logical flow halting and incomplete.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student uses an adequate basic vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common collocations like 'social and economic development', 'infrastructure facilities', and 'tourism'. However, there are notable lexical errors and awkward word choices throughout the text, such as 'introducing sports activities to countries' instead of hosting international sporting events, and 'create a socialization' instead of fostering social interaction. There are also agreement and collocation errors such as 'tournaments results' and 'enhances the knowledge'. The range is sufficient for basic communication, but lexical control is inconsistent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, using relative clauses and conditional structures such as 'which will boost the economy' and 'events held in Qatar, showed 70% rise'. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, featuring frequent errors such as subject-verb agreement issues ('tournaments results', 'events stimulates'), missing subjects in fragments ('Moreover, enhances the knowledge'), and incorrect prepositions or articles. Although the errors do not entirely impede general understanding, they occur with high frequency across the short text, limiting the score to the lower-middle band.
