Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people believe that sports activities in various countries such as The Olympics and the Football World Cup, bring countries closer, whereas others think that it only creates sense of competition and not friendship. I therefore, only partially agree with this view and will discuss in detail before presenting my own opinion.
On the one hand, people think that participating in a variety of events develops strong connections between countries and they get a chance to remain connected with each other. For example, if any event occurs in international level then, people who are fond of watching World Cup enjoy these activities with their families. In addition, sportsmen also want to explore other countries and get a chance to meet their colleagues. As a result, they represent their countries which turns out to be highly beneficial for them.
On the other hand, excessive competition may leads to negative consequences between participants as well as countries. For instance, many countries create a false narrative for an opponent country's members. Some may believe that they will behave harshly with rivalry team members. Therefore, they begin their matches with the bad behavior which often disrupts confidence level among individuals.
In my opinion, having a sense of competition is a good initiative but completely focusing on games may lead to enhance jealousy factors rather than friendship. As we sometimes meet someone, so it is better to build good friendship and proceed towards game smoothly.
In conclusion, building strong relationships among countries result in an excellent bond between countries. Consequently, focusing only on game often creates resentment between people and countries.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—that international sports events unite countries and that they create competition and conflict—while also stating a personal opinion in the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and lacks depth. For instance, the argument regarding countries creating a false narrative or showing bad behavior lacks specific, well-reasoned support and remains a bit vague. The writer's position is discernible, but the ideas could be extended further with more concrete examples to achieve a higher band score. Nonetheless, the task is adequately addressed in line with Band 6 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure, utilizing standard introductory, body, and concluding paragraphs. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' 'For instance,' and 'In conclusion' are employed to guide the reader through the text, although some referencing is slightly mechanical. For example, the sentence 'As we sometimes meet someone, so it is better to build good friendship' lacks smooth logical progression and clarity in its connection to the surrounding text. Paragraphing is used sufficiently, but overall progression occasionally stumbles due to slightly awkward transitions between ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms such as 'international level,' 'excessive competition,' 'false narrative,' and 'resentment.' There are some attempts to use less common vocabulary, but these are occasionally marred by word choice and collocation errors, such as 'leads to negative consequences' where 'lead' should be bare infinitive, or 'enhances jealousy factors rather than friendship.' Spelling is generally accurate, and vocabulary errors do not impede overall communication, placing this performance firmly in the Band 6 category.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms throughout the response. While there are some correct complex structures, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'excessive competition may leads to,' 'if any event occurs in international level then,' and 'disrupts confidence level among individuals.' Punctuation and articles are occasionally misused. Despite these errors, they rarely impede communication, as the intended meaning remains understandable to the reader, aligning well with the Band 6 criteria for grammatical range and accuracy.
