Student answer (Band 6.0)
Global sports events such as the Football World Cup or The Olympic games have been beneficial in bringing people from different nations together. Some people argue that these events can cause friction and unfriendliness between countries. While others are of the opinion that these competitions are invalid, I strongly believe that such challenges can have more economical importance.
Granted, critics often argue that tension rises throughout these events. Most sport fans from different countries that does not excel in a particular competition prefer to hold grudges against the team that knocked them out; furthermore, creating frictions between countries. For instance, the concluded 2026 World Cup match between Argentina and France created a rift between both country's citizens and caused bloody fights among them. Although this can be a major issue, the benefits of the events such as business relationships far outweighs this problem.
I am strongly of the opinion that multinational sports programs have economical advantages. During the duration of the event, individuals across different countries and get familiar with themselves engaging in business conversations. Furthermore, countries that host such competitions have huge financial benefits from influx of customers. For example, after the olympic games of 2007, south africa had a high rate of sales from people that came to watch the event, boosting the economy. This can have a significant impact on a nation's gross net on the market.
In conclusion, Despite rivalry can occur among demographs leading to bloodshed, the economical advantages are more significant such as the monetary value. Data suggests that the events leads to more revenue generated and boost global foreign exchange reserves.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the view that sports bring countries together and the counter-argument that they create competition and friction. The writer presents a clear overall position, shifting the discussion toward the economic importance of such events. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and occasionally shifts focus unexpectedly (for instance, the introduction states that some view competitions as 'invalid,' which is unclear). While the main arguments regarding economic advantages and fan tensions are supported with examples such as the 2026 World Cup and South Africa in 2007, the connection between sports and economic impact could be elaborated further to fully satisfy higher band descriptors. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, placing it firmly at a Band 6.0 level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introductory paragraph, body paragraphs addressing different aspects, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'Granted,' 'Furthermore,' and 'In conclusion' are employed to guide the reader through the text, although some referencing is slightly faulty or mechanical (e.g., 'the concluded 2026 World Cup' or 'these events such as business relationships'). While progression is generally maintained, the logical flow between sentences occasionally stumbles due to awkward phrasing. Nevertheless, the organizational structure is clear enough to warrant a Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'multinational sports programs,' 'financial benefits,' and 'foreign exchange reserves.' However, there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and phrasing throughout the text, such as 'economical importance' instead of 'economic importance,' 'that does not excel' (agreement error with 'fans'), and 'gross net on the market.' Additionally, terms like 'demographs' are misused. While these errors do not severely impede communication, they restrict the lexical score to a Band 5.5, as precision and style lack consistency.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional structures with varying degrees of success. There are several grammatical errors and awkward structures present, such as 'Most sport fans... that does not excel,' 'individuals across different countries and get familiar with themselves,' and 'Despite rivalry can occur among demographs.' Punctuation and article usage also show occasional lapses, as seen in 'the olympic games of 2007, south africa.' Despite these frequent errors, the meaning remains mostly clear to the reader, aligning well with the Band 5.5 descriptors for grammatical control.
